To solve the problem of being too far from the dragon hanger, just add either a warp feature in the map, of just have the option to warp to the hangar from the pause menu, just like in the HTTYD2 game. If we're going by real time, we should maybe include the longest day? Everyone is... less than fun...

Maybe instead of selecting how you want your dragon to look, their appearance could be randomised! You could be wandering in the wild and tame a pink Monstrous Nightmare, for example.
