I live in the Vancouver area. If I'd known Dean was going to be there I probably would've got tickets (but on second thought it looks extremely expensive, so maybe not).

It's possible, though not many people read interviews with movie directors, apart from internet nerds. The general public would still be completely surprised by that ending.
