I've decided to create the head of Toothless as good and as realistic as I can. I already have a selfmade complete model of Toothless, but it is not symmetric (bad for animation) and have a broken geometry, I can't paint it. I also have some problems with the wings, they are really hard to animate. But the head should be feasible. I've started completly new and that's what O've got after around one hour: Not really impressive yet, after the detail sculpting it should look much better. I've decided to make the teeth as an extra model, otherwise I couln't reject them properly. Programs to use: Basic modeling: Sculptris Teeth modeling: Cinema 4D Sculpting/Painting: Autodesk Mudbox Animation: NewTek ChronoSculpt The last one is a new software I have for around one month. It works with "time-based cache sculpting". Sounds weird? But it is so simple and awesome! |

When I'm ready with modelling and painting I will animate some emotions with ChronSculpt. But I have to keep an eye on the poly count. With my current hardware setup moe than 1 mio polygons aren't good for an efficient workflow. |

That was just a myth. They used the Million Polygon models only to sculpt the meshes, After that they converted them to low poly models and transformed the Details into normal maps. No GPU could render 4 Million Polygons in Real time, especially Not the consoles. Here are more informations about it: http://media.officialplaystationmagazin ... frame1.jpg You see the models in the game have only around 10,000 Polygons. Ehen you want to see Real million Polygon models search for ZBrush, Mudbox it Chronosculpt Trailers. |
