Are GIFs still limited by colour? I use solely PNGs for graphics and any animation I do is normally software related so I'm a little out on this, but I'm sure I've seen GIFs with full 32-bit true colour enabled...

It was made in Gimp with an overlay effect. Honestly the colors on Hiccstrid were mutiliated the moment I put them on there. Dunno why. I tried fixing it on photobucket.com but it turned it into a picture and not a gif. (WTF) so ya.

Try Paint.NET, you might get better results because it's much easier to control the file output settings (it lets you decide on the dithering as soon as you do Save As).
But you might need to download the AGIF and APNG plugin to make animated images, APNG works on some browsers but not others unfortunately.

If I'm correct, they're not limited by colour. Just it's a good idea to reduce it so that you don't end up with gifs with huge file sizes
