I think it should be of dragons and humans XD
Make a storytwist, like Shnuckles did, the original movie until a part where you wanted it to be something else, now I take the example that Shnuckles choosed, the part where Astrid spots him with Toothless, he actually does fly away instead of stopping her.
And from the point where you pick it to be different you come up with your own story :P

If you have a question about a term just ask and I'll explain it to you. And yeah Hitchups is the biggest/most popular HTTYD fiction on the site.

Unfortunately, I don't have any specific ideas for you to use (mainly because when I think of an idea, I end up using it myself. XD)

Something you could do, though, is start out small. Create a one- or two-chapter story. That always helped me incorporate into a fandom and then the longer I'm there, the more story ideas I come up with. Watch the movie/tv series and look at it critically. Find a plot-hole that you could fill or write up a section from a different character's POV. I wrote a few of those.

I was going to give you some examples that I wrote, but most of them are from different fandoms. Instead, I'll leave you one. This is an example of taking a scene and rewriting it in another character's POV:
