A Useful Method For Naming Dragons
Posted: 10 Jun 2014, 11:45
I use this method for when I'm naming dragons in my stories, so I thought I'd share it!
Go onto this website.
Type in anything that's associated with your dragon character; e.g. personality.
Or, you could have a look at the English-Dragon dictionary!
Click the 'Translate' button.
Now you have a name for your dragon!
I hope this method will help you when you're thinking of a name for a dragon in your stories!
Edit: Maybe you could use this name for a Night Fury; I found it here.
Vulnahviing ("dark fury wing")
Another edit: If, for example, a word means the same as it does in Dragon-language as it does in English: e.g. 'valour', break the word up into syllables:
val our=val un
Then join the syllables together, and you have a name!
Oh, and also, if you want to, if a word means something in Dragon-language, and a character says what it means, you could say that's what it means in Dragonese. Confusing, I know.
ANOTHER edit: I've used this method when naming Zeymah, in my story, Shadows And Death (Prequel). Zeymah means 'brother' in Dragon-language, and Zeymah is the brother of Spike. I've also done this method with their relatives.
