So just to clear things up before you read, I've mixed Movieverse and Bookverse together… so it's insanely confusing and I'm sorry *headdesk* I'll... Change most of this at some point probably.... But I really wanted to post this...
How To Survive School
Bookverse Hiccup's POV
---
While most people think school is torture, I view it differently. The classes were great as long as it wasn't PE, Otherwise known as the worst subject in the history of subjects. You had to be perfect at an athletic activity, or you were viewed as weak in my grade.
Eighth grade is misery between not being liked and not being cared about. Just because I make all 'A's I'm looked at as a Nerd? That's not exactly fair.
My dad says I study too vigorously, and that I need a friend to get me out of the house. My friend, Fishlegs, didn't count in my father's eyes. He was too… like me, I guess. My unpleasant cousin, Snotlout was two grades older than me, a sophomore in high school. Sadly He lived in my same apartment.
Snotlout liked to pick on me and sometimes he tended to take it too far... Like today. When I didn't pay attention to him, he tripped me, making me late to class and dropping my books. He just laughed as I tried to ignore him. But then the new kid stepped in...
"HEY!" Snotlout and his pair of morons, Clueless and Durbrain, turned around facing the new high school junior. "Leave him alone why don't ya?" He yelled while putting his hands on his hips. "Well go on! Scram!" His eyes narrowed. Snotlout glared at the only person who had ever stood up for his little cousin. I continued to pick up my belongings. "Need help?" The older boy asked me with concern. I simply shrugged, not knowing what to say. I was used to being bullied by Snotlout and his goons.
The brunette started to help me pick up my books and miscellaneous papers. "Thanks... " I said quietly.
"You're absolutely welcome." The high schooler replied, and then stopped to look at one of my drawings. Ok, ok I'll admit it. I've been known to doodle in class… but come on! If I'm still understanding the material, does it really matter?
Anyway… he saw my name signed clear as day on the bottom. "Hiccup Horrendous Haddock The Third? You're the person that has the same name as me?" I nodded in short reply. The bell started to ring. Oh crumbs. The one thing I hated the most was being late to class. The Sophomore's eyes widened and he handed my books back to me and grabbed my arm, starting to run.
"No running in the halls PLEASE!" Norbert, the school's janitor, screeched at the top of his voice. The man had a lot of pet peeves, and running was one of them. We both turned down different hallways, practically going to an entirely different part of the school to get to our classes. I took one more left turn and wound up in front of my classroom. Thankfully it was Professor Gormless' math class. Which I had never been late (until now) for. Math was my best subject, earning me the best ranking in the entire grade. All I'd get was a warning not to ever do it again and a few angry glares from classmates.
