---

The dragon stood there as the boy seemed to realize minor details about what once was; that him and his human had once soared through the skies as one, that his human had once flown like a dragon himself. Yet something deeper was on the dragons mind, for the touch of the boy was still fresh in the beasts mind. It had been so long it had been since he had seen a human, since he had known their touch... How he had missed the touch of a human in his deep slumber; how he had missed the touch of his human. And that's when the dragon had a flash back to when his own boy had first bonded with him. How he had been so reluctant to trust him; how he had been so annoyed at the simple antics of the human. Had the dragon realized then that the boy had cost him his tail fin, the outcome may have been very different. However, by the time the dragon sensed the guilt and realized what the two legged had done to him, something unexpected had happened. Something had formed between them, something the dragon had never felt before; love. Most certainly he knew other dragons and respected them, but never had he allowed himself to bond so closely to another being. In doing so he was vulnerable, and scared. Yet at the same time he knew the boy wouldn't hurt him, for he could sense the boys fear; and this.. this had confused him. For why was a two legged- the very species that had hunted his kind- scared of him?

And in that moment where the boy reached out his hand, the dragon had to think for a long moment, staring at the hand that was extended to him. For so many of these things called hands had killed dragons, and struck fear into their hearts, had made them suffer and bow down to the almighty beasts called humans; who seemed to have more power then even some dragons, powers the dragon could not understand. How they wielded these odd claw like things with their paws, how they shot claws through the air straight into a beasts heart. And how they used the dragons own kin against them, how they had killed all but a few of the once strong species known as dragons.

Yet in that moment, the dragon had seen something he had never before seen nor sensed in a human; respect. The dragon wondered what a humans touch was like, if a human was capable of something that he wasn't. Why had that human trusted him so? What had made him reach out to touch the dragon? There could be several answers; curiosity, bravery, or sheer stupidity. But the only thing the dragon could think of was something he had only heard of; love. For a brief moment he had hesitated, fearing what the consequences might be if he trusted this boy; torture, exile, death.. before giving into the overwhelming desire to know a humans touch.

---

The dragon observed the boy for a long moment, an idea forming in his mind. Although this boy was not his human, this boy might be his one chance at finding out what happened to his human. But how? How could a dragon possibly ask a boy where one single being in the world was? However impossible it seemed, the world seemed to forget one thing; this was no ordinary creature who was standing before this boy. No, this.. was a dragon; a beast that had an intelligence higher then any living creature on earth... a beast to be not only respected but feared, for the beast held in a single claw the ability to end ones life if he so chose. Most fortunately, the beast had no interest in wreaking havoc on the two legged community. No. His simple mission was to find out what happened to his boy, no matter the cost. If there was a chance his boy was out there, he wanted to know. If something had happened, he wanted to know what, when, and where. Most of all, he just wanted his human back... Little did he know that would never, ever be possible. For in all reality, unbeknownst to the beast, his human was gone, in a world where no one... not even dragons.. could reach him.

---

The boy watched the dragon as the dragons eyes seemed to glaze over, though why the boy didn't know. As he examined the old, worn pieces of fabric closer he could tell that one looked like this odd fin like thing on his tail. He could tell there was a saddle like thing, an odd thing on one side and a stirrup. "Toothless..." He whispered softly, as the dragon seemed to flinch at a memory. "Toothless." He repeated, a little louder this time. "Bud?" In a moment the dragon snapped out of his trance like state and stared at him, taking a step back. The boy stared at him, confusion in his eyes. The dragon looked shocked, as if he had seen a ghost. The boy shook his head, staring at the beast, "What happened to you?" He whispered. The dragon seemed to stare at him as if he knew what he was saying, a certain sadness in his eyes. "Why are you so scared?" He asked, wishing the dragon could answer him.

"Let me help you... " The boy said as he took a step towards him. Yet suddenly the dragons lip lifted, teeth coming out of his gums. The boy stumbled backwards. "Whoa, whoa! How did you do that!" The dragon snorted, shaking his head. The boy stared at the teeth. "D-Do that again..." The boy said quietly. The dragon stared at him. The boy pointed to his mouth. "T-The mouth thing..." The dragon stared at his finger, before pulling his tips of his mouth upward retracting his teeth. In moments, he had formed his own gummy smile. The boy stared at him. "Wow.. amazing..."

"Charlie! Charlie!" The woman screamed desperately as she tore up sheets and pillows, searching for an answer. Running downstairs, she grabbed her phone, dialing numbers. Ringing, ringing, but no answer. The machines dial tone rang on the other end, as the innocent voice of Charlie greeted her ears...

"Hi, it's Charlie! Leave a message!"

The woman didn't hesitate to give the machine a piece of her mind, but little did she know that calling Charlie at this point in time should have been the last thing she had done. For after all, how did a dragon know what this loud, ringing thing.. called a phone... was? Furthermore, how did he know it was not a threat... and what would he do when he heard this loud, screaming thing known as technology ringing from the boys skin? With fear, anger, hostility?

Tune in next time to see what happens.
