Thank you! :) I was thinking that in this scene, the player character would be able to get their dragon back (it was captured on the trappers' ship - again, that will be explained) and learn the flying controls. Then they would go back to Berk and that would be the end of the game's setup. Now that you've got a dragon, you would be free to do whatever you wanted - explore the world, complete side-quests, or begin the main storyline.
Books are like dragons... if we do not believe in them, and read them, they will cease to exist.
How then will we learn the language and understand the stories of the dear dead ghosts of the past?

(Long post)

Maybe we could include the islands of Hopeless and Freezing to Death in the map. :P I think Hiccup was being sarcastic about those locations in his HTTYD 1 voiceover, but we could still add them as a joke.

@Dragonrider's Fury — I have managed to find an apparently free online course that teaches Unity for absolute beginners and claims to help you 'learn how to develop 3D games from scratch'. The course has over 10 hours of content, and it seems to cover everything that you would need to know. The link is here: https://www.udemy.com/learnunity3d/. The related courses on the website looked like you had to pay for them, so this looks as if it could be worth taking a look at. You might want to search around and see if you can find anything else to help you. :) Try looking up 'How to learn Unity 3D for beginners free courses'.

I also found this on the official Unity website: https://unity3d.com/learn

And the Unity Asset Store also has some paid and free objects that could be useful, including some landscapes and trees: https://assetstore.unity.com/

Seriously, just look at how gorgeous some of these landscapes are: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/3 ... ure-107004.
It would be my dream to make a HTTYD game look this realistic and amazing. Gah... The grass in the seventh picture is just incredible... <3 (Unfortunately, it looks like you would need to pay for that particular landscape. :()

There's also some free trees, although I personally think they look a bit too cartoony: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/3 ... ees-103208

I've searched for some more free objects: https://assetstore.unity.com/search?q=c ... free&sc=3d

Just one more thing, I particularly loved this island: https://assetstore.unity.com/packages/3 ... ion-104753

Let me know what else you find! :)

Edit: I have heard that Unreal Engine is the better choice for making a game, so maybe experiment a bit. :)

Ooh, thanks! That might be worth taking a look at, IF Unity ever decides to work for me on Linux. I have it installed on Windows, but I don't have very much free space there, so I'd prefer to do my developing on Linux. ;)

I'm not sure about adding those islands...

I personally would like it if it were set after Hidden World.

You're welcome! I'm willing to do anything that's possible in order to help make this game into a reality! :)

I agree with you about the islands. We shouldn't just have generic ones, they should be designed according to how they are seen in the franchise.

(In regards to your storage space on Windows, maybe look around for some free software that can clean up what you don't need. Or is everything important?)

Personally, I'm not really sure about that idea. The overarching premise of this game is having your own customisable dragon and having a huge open world in which you are able to travel absolutely anywhere.
Spoiler: click to toggle
it would make that concept impossible to achieve, because

Everything's important; it's just an intentionally small partition. The literal only reason I have Win7 on my computer in the first place is because some programs run in neither WinXP nor Linux. ;)

Oh, okay. ;)

I also found some tutorials on the Unity website: https://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials

And I thought this question on Quora could be useful: https://www.quora.com/What-game-engine- ... l-or-Unity
