@Dragonrider's Fury, I found this on the Unity website: https://unity3d.com/make-a-game-in-unit ... rogramming

The Adventure Creator seems really cool, but it does cost quite a bit of money, so maybe don't use that one.

Okay, now I have edit access! :)
Those addons look useful. I added the free version of uScript to my assets, but as the Unity editor cannot start on my Linux system, it may be a while before I do anything with it. Of course, I could just boot into Windows 7, where Unity will run, but I don't want to do my development there, and I also don't want to lose everything I have running at the moment. :P And hibernate has not been working on Linux as of late. :(

I have some ideas about Berk.

I think we should try to make it as realistic as possible (along with the other islands in the game) and add locations such as the village, Great Hall, docks, the Haddock house (with all the rooms inside there), the forge (including Hiccup's workshop), Gothi's hut, the Dragon Training Academy, Raven Point, the Cove, the Dragon Hangar (where you could switch between your dragons — although this would mean a long trip back to Berk if you were in the middle of nowhere :/) and the dragon racing stands (which could include a minigame).

Maybe if you were just exploring Berk from the outside, you could see the riders (including :eret: and :valka:) flying their dragons. But once you landed on the island, everybody would be there.

(On the subject of landing your dragon, I was thinking that once you got close enough to the ground, you could just press B for the 'brake' button and your dragon would land. You would use the D-pad to mount/dismount your dragon, and the A button to accelerate. It just helps me if I think of the buttons as how they would appear on a game controller, because I'm hoping that we will be able to use controller support eventually. Maybe even motion controls, so you could actually feel like you were flying!)

Those are some good ideas. ;) I'm not sure about the idea of motion controls, however. Unless they were very carefully implemented, they might case more frustration than it would be worth. I've seen a lot of complaints about the motion controls in several games that use them.

Okay :)

I also think that the game should have a day and night cycle. Berk would look so beautiful at night, with the fire burning inside the statues as you approach the island. <3 Maybe it could have a real-time clock as well (like in Animal Crossing), so when it's Christmas in real life, it's Snoggletog on Berk, Thawfest at Easter, etc, and we could organise events. For example, when it's Aurvandil's Fire (I will have to pinpoint the exact date), the Frightmare could become available. (I always call it the Frightmare because I believe that was its original name in 'Fright of Passage', but since then, it's always been erroneously referred to as the Flightmare, which doesn't make any sense to me. :/) That would be amazing.

I think we actually already established that it would have a day/night cycle. If not explicitly, then implicitly, when I suggested that for some quests, you'd have to be at the right place at the right time. ;)

Ah, okay. ;) I've just added another idea to my post.

*I meant to add that the Frightmare could become available as an egg and in the wild, to be trained.

Does anybody know the general locations of the places around Berk, in relation to the whole island? (I would assume that the docks are in the south.) It would be useful for my map of Berk that I'm going to create for the game.

(In regards to the exact date for Aurvandil's Fire, I couldn't find anything, but I thought that this could be useful:
From the page for the Isle of Berk on the HTTYD wiki

Berk receives two weeks of the midnight sun every year, putting it roughly 70 km south of the Arctic Circle at a latitude of around 65 degrees, 54 minutes North.)
The only cool thing about the HTTYD 2 game was that you were able to do some amazing dives and stunts. Hopefully you could do that in this game.

To solve the problem of being too far from the dragon hanger, just add either a warp feature in the map, of just have the option to warp to the hangar from the pause menu, just like in the HTTYD2 game.

If we're going by real time, we should maybe include the longest day? Everyone is... less than functional, and your character's energy levels are low. Frustrating, but entertaining. Maybe you can take naps to help, but they won't work quite as well as other times of the year?
