The World in Progress
A 19th Century Political Role-Play
(with dragons)
The world was changing.
It was the year 1798, and Krönprinzessin Pandora Latinate had just been crowned Queen Pandora I of the Latinate Empire. The powerful yet war ravaged nation had been very unstable in the decades before, due to the erratic leadership of the previous monarch, King Schönder IX, who had brought misery and suffering to his citizens for the entire 37 years that he was in power.
Now, however, he was dead, and the whole of Europe bit their lips, anticipating the new Queen's first commands, in the hope that she would undo all the evil that her predecessor had done to everyone…
It's the late 1790s. You are a nation in Europe of your own choosing, real or otherwise. The coronation of Pandora I of Latinate has created quite a commotion, and it is your duty to decide what to do, whether to endorse the new monarch or condemn him. You are able to declare war on another nation, forge alliances, and make a perspective showing how your decisions affect the civilian life, what's going on in the government, along with any battles you wish to conjure up with another nation.
Dragons are a part of the world and are able to be used at your disposal. Depending on the different parts of Europe your nation is situated in, the species and types of dragons will vary greatly.

Regarding Dragon Species
Dragons are a class of reptiles classified under the genus Draconis. They are one of the most diverse forms of reptiles known to Man, and often very greatly in different regions, to the extent that some may not recognise dragons of another region at all.
An effort has been made to classify the dragons of Europe here. The list is not exhaustive.
Britain and Ireland
British dragons are usually of a very streamlined yet muscular build, and often have very high maximum flying speeds. As such, they are very popular to use as riding animals and as beasts of labour.
Draconis Britannia Aurum "Divine Dragon"
Found primarily in Wales and England, this dragon is enormous, characterised by its glimmering golden scales. It is primarily left undomesticated, and sightings are extremely rare. Typical lifespan ranges from 140 to 200 years.
Draconis Britannia Aevi "Timberjack"
The Timberjack is a large dragon, but slightly smaller than the Divine Dragon. However, it has been shown to have a much longer lifespan, at an average of 400 years. This is the longest of any dragon.
Iceland and the Faroe Islands
Icelandic and Faroese dragons are generally more stocky than their British counterparts, but what they lack for in aerodynamics, they make up in their sheer brute strength. Species like the Gronckle are native to this region.
Regardless of whether they are from Iceland or the Faroe Islands, all dragons from this region have the specific name "Insulae".
Draconis Insulae Nervus "Gronckle"
A large and bulky dragon, the Gronckle is often bred for war, though a few peaceable groups breed it for agricultural purposes. Its tiny wings make it very impractical for flying long distances, though there have been instances of Gronckles making pan-Atlantic flights, albeit much slower than other dragons.
Draconis Insulae Corni "Rumblehorn"
A larger and more heavily armoured cousin of the Gronckle. Unlike the Gronckle, it has much larger wings, allowing it to fly long distances and manoeuvre more difficult obstacles. As such, it is considered extremely useful in battle situations.
Draconis Insulae Spinamus "Whispering Death"
A long and stony dragon with many protruding spikes, the Whispering Death is virtually untameable. Little is known about it as of now, aside from the fact that it mainly lives underground.
German dragons
Most German dragons, being descendants of both Icelandic and British dragons, tend to be both muscular and slender. They are most popular as hunting dragons among aristocrats, as they are very quiet compared to other dragons. Their relatively small size, however, makes them less useful in combat situations.
Draconis Germanicus Nachtmahr "Monstrous Nightmare"
A fearsome dragon with unusually heat resistant skin (even for a dragon), the Monstrous Nightmare is also one of the most common dragons, with many aristocratic families owning up to 3 at any one time. When angered, it has been known to set itself on fire and destroy vegetation and wooden structures.
Draconis Germanicus Nihilus "Berlin Worm"
A rare species, found mostly in rural parts of Hesse, contrary to the name. While it has rarely been domesticated, a particular French butcher was able to break one in, though it killed him just three months later.
It somewhat resembles a Monstrous nightmare, except that it is jet black and significantly less scaly.
Finnish dragons
Finnish dragons are some of the most elusive of all dragons, many of which are never seen save for carcasses and a few live sightings. Many of them are nocturnal, and the few that do appear in the daytime are rarely seen.
Draconis Finlandia Fortuna "Majestic Red Serpent"
Of all the dragons from Finland, this is probably the most common, though sightings are still twelve times less common than German dragons. From what is known about it, it is a long and elegant dragon with the ability to change its colour like a chameleon.
Draconis Finlandia Deus "Night Fury"
Possibly the most elusive of all dragons in existence. much of what is known about it comes from an ancient Norse record written by one Hiccup III about 900 years ago.
