I've heard this countless times: on the books, in the official site, and from a multitude of fans. But yet I can't remember one time in the movie or the TV series where they ever mentioned that Snotlout and Hiccup are cousins?

Would anyone care to enlighten me on the subject?

I'm pretty sure they haven't actually addressed it in the series/movie.

I'm just curious how they both got that chin scar

In the movies, I don't think they are cousins. If they were, we would know.

In the books, it is assumed that they are cousins, because Snotlout's dad is Stoick's brother (forgot his name, was it something with beer and belly in it?). In the movie, Snotlout's dad is Spitelout and most likely NOT cousins with Hiccup even though the website says they are....

According to the books and School of Dragons website, they are cousins. That would also explain a lot of their rivalry.

I wonder if they'll ever confirm it in canon. I know its on the website but I don't really consider anything in the movie-verse canon unless its been stated in the movies, shorts, or TV shows (though in the case of the tv show I tend to ignore a lot of what happens lol.............)

I'm gonna ask!
