I was watching HTTYD again of course and it's very unclear how Hiccup lost his leg. Does anyone know for sure how he lost it, or have any theories about it?

It either got burned off to the point of not being able to be saved or Toothless had to yank him up by his teeth and the closest part of Hiccup to him was the left leg..

Or possibly hit by falling debris or something. But probably burned or chewed off

Toothless caught him by his leg and either accidentally bit off his leg or mangled it so severely that they had to cut it off.

i wonder what his feet/foot looked like especially in comparison to stoick's feet? ^o)

That's probably it.

When Hiccup falls, Toothless stretches his front paws to grab him, and I assume he does it the way we see it So I was thinking his leg may have been thrashed on the ground, maybe caught under Toothless's body

I don't think it burnt though.

OUCH! It hurts to read that XD

My idea is that when he was violently shoved off Toothless' saddle, his left foot was strapped in quite tightly into the gear thing so as he was shoved off it bent his leg in a weird way. But I'm not sure XD

yeah, that was sort of what I was thinking too. Either that, or when Hiccup and Toothless hit the Red Death's tail, Hiccup broke his leg, then it either got burnt badly or Toothless hurt it somehow.
