You make a good point.
In my opinion, age doesn't add perspective on anything. I like to think experiences add to perspective. It's clear that a lot of people enjoy the franchise and at various ages. Many people can relate to the characters in the films, show, and shorts, and to some extent, the books. While they may be targeted to a certain age group, others enjoy them. [Now that I have contributed, I'll leave to go find some batteries.]

Not going to reveal my exact age, but I'll say that I'm almost old enough to be conscripted into the Army. I don't care what anyone says, I'm going to put a Toothless sticker on my rifle when I join

Hah, I'm old enough to have a kid who is also a dragon fan :-)
But enthusiasm about a movie is a nice thing to share, when I was a kid me and my mom were both really into the Star Wars movies (the old ones) and I was so proud of her :-)
