It's got Dean DeBlois as it's director? This does bring a little hope to me. Fingers crossed!
Honestly, I'd be more hopeful if Dean wasn't the sole director. Both HTTYD2 and 3 were directed solely by him, and both were not as good as HTTYD, which he co-directed with Chris Sanders. Still, HTTYD2/3 weren't bad, so I'll remain cautiously hopeful for now.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Mason Thames will portray Hiccup, and Nico Parker will play Astrid.

Hm...

...Eugh. I'm not thrilled. Mason's hair kinda matches RTTE Hiccup's, I guess, but that's about the extent of their likeness. Nico looks... nothing like Astrid. I don't know how either of them act, but unless they greatly outperform what appearance would suggest, this is going to be a mess. -_-

But we'll still get some great music. :P

I just realized Mason was just 2 years old when the first film came out.

Filming delayed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. It's supposed to be filmed in Los Angeles and Northern Ireland.

I'm... strangely disappointed to hear that. Consensus is that HTTYDLA will likely be worthless, and I agree... so why do I care? :ermm: I guess I'm actually eager to see what they do for the remake? Odd. ^)

I'm pretty excited for the movie, I know there is not much hype or optimism but still, better than nothing :P

Debatable, honestly. Sometimes, things should just be allowed to rest in peace. That said, though, I am (perhaps morbidly) curious what they'll do with the remake, so I kinda agree with you. ;)

Hey everybody! We've got some nu-nu-news! According to this article, Gerard Butler will be actually playing Stoick in the live-action remake! It'll be interesting (and quite probably jarring) to hear his voice coming from a real person.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, we have one Nick Frost cast to play Gobber in HTTYDLA. I don't think I've ever heard (of) him before. Hopefully he does a good Scottish brogue. Or perhaps a terrible one. That might be entertaining. :P
