Sooo excited to hear this soundtrack! I agree with all of you who say it helps make the movies what they are :D And I definitely hope John Powell will be back for HTTYD 3!!!! maybe it'll be timed just right for him coming out of his sabbatical? Hopefully!

Wow, a 45 minute oratorio dedicated to WWI. I want to hear that!
I hope he will be back in time for the third film score, but I don't want him to rush the other thing either. I like how this score will have similar tunes to the original film, to give the sequel a familiar sense to HtTYD1.

About HTTYD 1:
Quote:

"I always say that in every movie there is one scene that is going to kill you and the forbidden friendship scene was it in this one. I think it probably helped that I left it to the last minute because I had more animation finished. The subtlety of animation means you are really able to read the whole scene properly. The body language and facial acting was so superb. I truly had to wait and see the inner meaning that was there."
And about HTTYD 2 (nothing new except bagpipes :) ):
Quote:

"It uses some of the same tunes but there are also lots of new tunes. It’s going to have bagpipes in it. There is a fantastic group called The Red Hot Chilli Pipers who are coming down from Scotland for us. We have a big choir, a big orchestra. Everything is the same but it has a new set of characters and a whole new story. The characters have grown up since the last film so things are slightly different. It’s a maturation story."
...and for everybody, who is afraid about HTTYD 3 - the answer was in old interview with Dean :)

And the other element I loved about the film, was John Powell’s score. When was he brought on, and is he on for the next two?
Yes, he will be part of number two and three. And, he was brought on around the time that we joined the production actually – and we were great fans of John’s work before.

You can already hear so much of the first film's score in the "first five minutes" they released (I'm guessing it's not a complete final mix, but still the music is completely original, so there's that). I actually dubbed over the sound myself to identify themes and their similarities/deviations compared to how they were used in the first film:

Edit: Yay, YouTube autofilters things no matter how close they are to fair use. You can just download the video here.
