So, IcelandicEel posted this on tumblr and I hadn't seen it on here yet so I thought I'd let y'all know

It's pretty cool how Steven Spielberg loves HTTYD enough to help work out on it again. It just proves how great this franchise is ^.^

I was just wondering how old this is, though? Max, where did you find it?

I'm hella stupid as someone reblogged this recently so I thought it was fairly recent but it appears not xD There have been multiple other posts though on tumblr stating Steven Spielberg called HTTYD2 'perfect' so I'd be curious as to where that information is from

I don't like Spielberg much, because he ruins a lot of franchises and his philosophy is strange. Okay, he made many great movies, but that's because he made so many movies.

Another reason why I don't like him is, that he is one of the founder of DreamWorks but turned completly away from it. In interviews he talks always about how awesome Pixar is.

And it refers also to IcelandicEels Tumblr which is actually pretty strange, because he doesn't even post a source citation. As a news site of this size I wouldn't trust informations from "a random internet blog".

Does it mean that we have a "happy end"?

I have no clue where that's from, but I trust past-me. He would never post information from non-reputable sources. Also I love this part:

Yeah, I saw that too.
And oh I didn't even know that about him. When you mention that, it kinda seems like he is just back to bargain in on their success That's sucky.

The thing about Spielberg is that he really seems to understand, one way or another, how the average audience member thinks. It just so happens that the average audience member is often (not always, to be fair: the general public certainly does react well to a good story if it's presented in the right way) an idiot with no regard for a sensible story. Sometimes this really pays off, sometimes it doesn't.

Personally, I love the guy's work, for the most part, but I'll admit it's sometimes against my better judgement.

A filmmaker would, however, be very foolish to disregard any piece of advice he gave out of hand.

I rememeber this coming around awhile ago, seems intersaasting though that he wants to help with a money-making franchise like this one when he ditched DreamWorks awhile ago....

I didn't want to say that he is not able to give good advices. As the probably most successful director of all time he is probably the best man to give advices to make the movie "more attractive to the mainstream". Becuase that's his style of making movies, he never risks anything, there is always a happy ending and they are full of clichés.

He's highly regarded and made quite a few movies that I consider to be pretty good, so it's not necessarily a bad thing in itself that he was giving advice. In this case, I have to say it does concern me a bit that his advice was evidently to take a "bigger is better" approach to the 3rd act and ending though. That kind of approach all too often ends up sacrificing heart and character development in the process.
