I've created this topic, because I think there are many people amoung you who are as interested in the technical aspects of HTTYD2 as I. As you are no doubt aware, HTTYD2 will feature two new technologies developed by DreamWorks:
It based on the new LibEE engine which allows the animators with high end multi-threading computers to animate the characters in real time in full detail. One of DW' senior character animators David Stodolny said about it:
Here you can see a part of the LibEE software in action: It's the graph on the left edge of the Cintique tablet. The person in the foreground is 'Head of Character Animation' Simon Otto. You can read a full article about this new software here: http://www.multithreadingandvfx.org/cou ... ingTBB.pdf

My sight is really awful, but is that a wonderful looking graph editor to the side of the dragon Simon is animating? |

An effect which lets the light travel a short distance under the surface of an object before it gets reflected. You can see the effect better on these images: |

Here's another info page with some screenshots. Premo has apparently also a build-in search engine.I'm very sure it exists, at least it's listed here. There's also another software simply called LIGHT, but other than that it may have to do with lighting as well, I have no information about it. |
and this is our dragon (oh no not again) oh isn't it sweet (i think i have to go) | |
