I believe it is a bandrún. I have this belief because of these two web sites. http://sign-iceland.com/?page_id=2 http://www.hugi.is/dulspeki/myndir/569690/bandrun/ A bandrún, according to the slightly-mangled Google Translate rendition, is a rune made of a couple of other runes. This one could be a chief hat and a scepter, and also look like an eye, and a flying dragon, and Dork of Berk might have the correct interpretation after all And bandrún is such a cool word! |

I just thought of something else, someone else who made a bandrún. It's in his name: http://hanyuxiaofaxian.tumblr.com/post/ ... iens-hanzi (No, dude, not hanzi. Bandrún.) :: web surfs and wastes more time :: Also Berkana is a cool word. :: web surfs even more :: PANTS OF THE DEAD? REALLY? Um, does anybody remember what Hiccup's pants looked like at the end of the movie? Because, you know, animators....all Hannibal Lecter and all.... |

Well, that escalated quickly... Thanks, guys! You rock. I devoured every one of dyannehs's posts on viking culture. What a great reference site, especially for those of us writing docs. Go read it if you haven't! |

anyone here who can grab a picture of how it looked, I may be able to come with some theory if I get to see it EDIT: I looked a bit closer, got a picture of how it looks like, and it could be hälsinge-runes, if it is, then it would be a bandrune (bandrún, band = band, rún is old norse for rune). But... it would make no sense if it was a bandrune, because then it would mean "mt", so I'm guessing that it's just a mark that dreamwork made up themselves, just like the runes they use in the movie. |

It's probably a bandrun made up of Berk characters that Dreamworks designed for that universe. You're writing a paper? I wanna read! |
