Personally I would say dragons. I'm one of those people who prefers animal characters to human characters. However it's quite a hard choice as in riders of berk the dragons seemed to have little character (which sucked). Though in HTTYD 2 the dragons seem to have strong personalities.
^_^ ;) :D :$ :P 8) :'( :( ^) :O  >:( <3 <- me seeing httyd 2

Are we talking about specifically in the HTTYD universe or generally? If generally, then definitely dragons, however I think I'd have a much tougher time choosing if I had to include Hiccup etc too.

There's no doubt that it has to be dragons, but to be fair, this franchise has much better humans than most franchises centred around some sort of non-human life form.
Number of times I've watched the trailer: 18.

My pet peeve: people who refer to complete strangers by their first name. The correct ways to refer to a "John Smith" whom you have never met are Smith, Mr Smith, or John Smith. Not "John". He's not your buddy.

The Novelist Bewilderbeast

Dragons no doubt but Vikings are kind of ok
“My armor is like tenfold shields, my teeth are swords, my claws spears, the shock of my tail a thunderbolt, my wings a hurricane, and my breath death!”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit

“So comes snow after fire, and even dragons have their endings.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit

When I read the second quote. All I think about is the Drago's Bewilderbeast ice and the ending of How To Train Your Dragon 3. *sob*

I don't actually get what you're asking. Because my answer really depends on what you mean by 'Dragons or Vikings'.

I mean, I love Vikings, they're awesome and I love their culture. But Dragons are well, Dragons!
