Another really subtle story arc is the "threading the needle". The payoff here is when Hiccup and Toothless use a corkscrew spin to thread the needle through a hole in the tail of the Bewilderbeest. They'd been trying to thread through sea stack holes during the entire movie, and that's one of the things they were practicing. I'm wondering why they didn't show that outright--maybe they didn't want to mess with dragon model sizes as much as they had to in the first movie. But when I finally got that--"Hey, thread the needle success!" the realization was very cool. |

Heh. Oddly what was running through my head during that scene was a grunt from Halo and a bowl of petunias... |
