hiccup/stoic

I'm sitting here and thought crosses my mind about hiccup and stoic.
This will tie in with the first movie, series, and 2nd movie.
We all know stoic dies in the 2nd movie.
For 15 years hiccup is basically treated like an out cast, no one really accepts him, not even his own father.
He tries so hard but always ended up messing up something. Stoic wouldn't give him the time of day most of the time. Then hiccup meets toothless and his life is changed. The battle with the red death happened and stoic realizes he hasn't treated hiccup like his true son. And when toothless shows stoic that he saved hiccups life, stoic has a change of heart and wants to try and be a better father. Then though the series we see hiccups confidence grow and he starts showing the true leadership ability and he is put in control of the dragon academy.
Then the fight in the second movie with drago where stoic ends up saving hiccups life at the cost of his own.
Basically, to try and sum this up. Hiccup only had 5 years of time with his dad where they got along and learned from each other. And where stoic got to see him grow into the chief role stoic always wanted him to take, but he never got the chance.
Basically, they lost 15 years of time they will never get back to help each other and teach hiccup things he doesn't know.
So what do you think?
Just something I've been pondering lately.
You have any thoughts?
