I read somewhere that HTTYD3 was postphoned by Dean because then Powell would be able to work on the score, because Dean (like us, which is great) wanted him to do the score for repetition's sake.

Also, I've yet to hear a trilogy that was (really) succesful but had different composers for different movies, so I think that is a wise decision. They will then also have more time to work on the film so that's good as well. Nothing's as bad as a rushed product, right?
Um.. Hi?

Well... that's a massive shame. His score was what made me fall in love with HTTYD.
But I know who can replace him... MARTY O' DONNELL... his soundtracks are incredible and he isn't currently working on a project.

Guys, guys, guys!!! Look at his IMDB page, he IS returning!!!
Do not consider information posted on IMDB as fully confirmed - IMDB is edited by its users.
I know that it's still very early stage of production process, but has actually anyone confirmed or denied those rumors?

John Powells music is an inseparable part of those movies..

I just hope whoever does the soundtrack sticks with the same theme of music. There is always that same tune in everything and it is really catchy. <3

Same here too.
I say all time that a good BSO make a good film twice better or even more.
That's why I have the 2 movie's BSO in my phone :)

Oh I agree, it’s tremendous work. When he(Powell) told me he was going to take a break from scoring I was like, “No!”
DEBLOIS: (Laughs) It actually benefits us because he comes to the project very, very fresh because he’s had a lot of time to sort of rest up in between.

Sounds excellent. If his score is anything like the previous two, we're in for a treat.

It's best that composers try to stick alongside a franchise as it expands. What Powell will do for HTTYD will be just like Hans Zimmer for Nolan's "Dark Knight" trilogy. It's a pity more franchises don't do this. (Looking at you Marvel...ALL of you...)

I'm glad that John Powell makes the score for HTTYD 3. The music brought me to this fandom. I also doubted that the second movie would be good, despite all the trailers they showed us.
Then I listened to "Toothless Found" and my mind was blown.
