From what ive been reading lately, for httyd3. They will seperate. :(
Dragons, need I say more.

Hiccup, chief of berc, dragon master.

And with this separation might actually the movie begin. We might be getting a lot of flashbacks. I've read somewhere that HTTYD3 is supposed to take place 3 years after HTTYD2. Since Valka's Bewilderbeast is gone and Drago's still out there somewhere, things are in motion and 3 years is a long enough time to turn the world upside down. Which is why the movie might start with Hiccup and Toothless breaking up and the dragons disappearing. As for why and how it came to that would be explained through flashbacks. Hiccup and Toothless won't get separated within a day. I think that's why there's the 3 years gap (if it's really 3 years). And truthfully, covering three years of events in a single movie chronologically is not a good idea.

Speaking of flashbacks, you know what I'd love to see? Some pre-HTTYD1 scenes with Hiccup and Stoick. ^_^

Guys I actually can't deal.
So. Much. Sadness.

Below is apparently what the first scene of HTTYD3 will be based around - you have been warned - it's kind of a semi-spoiler (it's not confirmed...)
The art is seriously gorgeous though (even if it's sad) and worth appreciating.

I can't imagine Hiccup's world without Toothless and the other dragons. Part of me doesn't even want to see HTTYD3 if they progress to a world in which there are no longer any dragons. Hiccup and Toothless complete each other.

My heart literally seizes up when I read this.

Let us grieve together.
As long as they have all of this (plus "I can't imagine a world without Toothless, blah blah blah"), I'll be okay. Start with a "This Is Berk" at the beginning of the movie, end with the entire (if not most of) opening monologue from the books.

EDIT:
I mean, if it's switched with the book monologue at the beginning and "This Is Berk" at the end, I'm okay. Not like "oh, this movie won't ruin me in any sort of way" okay (because, let's be honest, I was become an emotional wreck during the second movie), just okay with the dialogue at the beginning and end.

Like, as long as there's the book monologue and a "This Is Berk" monologue ANYWHERE in the movie...probably one at the beginning and one at the end...obviously...I'll be okay...I'm just hoping they don't kill anyone else off. I mean, the second movie did that.

First movie: Hiccup loses his leg.
Second movie: Hiccup loses his Dad.
Third movie: Hiccup loses his best friend.

I mean, if Toothless just leaves and the other dragons follow him, sure, I'll be an emotional wreck, but at least Toothless will be alive!

Guys, there is no point in denying it tho :(

Dean DeBlois has confirmed in an interview that the movie will end with :hiccup: and :toothless: parting ways.

This will ruin the franchise for him why can't they listen to the fans I've heard Cressida cowell may be doing more books but that's only gossip so no idea how much truth there is
