I was so gald in httyd 2 they gave stormfly some personality. In the series I just hated her. Each dragon had their own personality. Toothless was well..toothless. Hookfang was misbehaving towards snotlout, making him funny. Meatlug was an overly affectionate gronckle. Barf and belch was a dragon version of the twins. But stormfly just seemed a bit mindless. I wish they could have made her more like astrid. I did like her constant use of spine shots and her bond with astrid, but I felt she was definatly lacking in character. Anyone think so?

When you say "a bit mindless" do you mean, like she's kind of ditsy? I just got my DoB DVDs, so I'll keep an eye out for that ...

I know in a lot of fanfic I've read, she's portrayed as a bit vain/preening like a parrot, but I don't remember if she's like that in the show. I think she's adorable in HTTYD2. The scene with Eret throwing Hiccup's sword off the boat and her repeated retrieval of it makes me smile every time!

Well she always has a kind of far away look in her eyes when I say mindless. But I agree their was a big improvement in httyd 2

Stormfly's character is one of the reasons I don't like the Nadder species much. They might as well be my least favourite dragon.

Stormfly just had no character. The only thing I got from her is that they like chicken. Most would be scared of Toothless just becoming a pet, but Stormfly was always acting just like a pet. Less than an average pet in fact. A chicken maybe.

They put some character in her in HTTYD 2, but there's something wrong with the Nadders' species design. They were based off birds. Birds don't actually show emotion on their faces.

I agree. I only like the nadders spines and colors. But the big chin and mindless look and personalty is enough to hate nadders

I loved Stormfly in the 2nd movie because they actually gave her a personality. Before, in the TV series, she was just (like you said) a mindless pet that occasionally helped in a battle or whatever. In the movie she was more playful, she showed actual emotion towards others. She isn't my favorite dragon, but I like her a lot more since the second film.

Agreed, they did a better job with her in the second movie.
She finally had personality.
I like the part with her on the boat to, very funny.

I like how in the movie, Toothless is kind of like a cat and Stormfly is kind of like a dog. Example: on Eret's ship, Toothless plays with a spark from Hiccup's sword in a manner similar to the way a cat would play with, say, a feather on a stick toy, and Stormfly keeps on fetching the sword and bringing it back every time Eret tries to throw it off the boat.

She certainly didn't have much personality in the series. But I think Toothless lacked lots of his movie personality, too. He only acted, when it was necessary for the story or when Hiccup ordered him to do something.

The other dragons' personalities in RoB/DoB were fine though.
