Ok, I'm convinced that this is pilot for the new season. The characters' designs resemble concept art from Dragons 2.

I was KINDA disappointed to see it was mostly a flashback, but I'm assuming these models will be used in the next season. From an animating point of view it makes no sense to design and build new models for such a short part of one short. They MUST be the new designs for hiccup and the gang in the coming season of Dragons!
That being said, I loved the short but wished we could have seen more older riders!
