   | So, I had a goofy idea. You know the Argonath (from LotR)? Well, since the movies' design of it had outstretched hands (maybe accurately; it's been a long time since I've read that part of the books, so I don't remember how it was described), I thought it would be funny to put a dragon at each so they're doing the Hiccup hand thing. Unfortunately, the angle is such that the render really isn't that amazing, but I put a lot of work into it (far too much, actually; I rough-modeled --and I mean very rough, but it was still a lot of work-- the shape of the right-hand statue, the bank, and the left-hand statue's hand and arm so shadows that should be cast on them would be; but the lighting angle is such that none are ), so I might as well share the result. Enjoy! (Or, y'know, don't; your choice. ) Stats for nerds: Render time: 35.51 seconds (Blender Internal) Uses a plane on on invisible RenderLayer to "hack" the Z-Buffer so the Defocus filter node defocuses the dragons' whole bodies; without it, only the parts in front of the "shadowcatcher" objects were defocused, while those that were in front of just sky (like the wings) weren't. Edit: I should mention: By my best guesses, the scale between the Argonath and the dragons is accurate here. |
