It's a bit late getting here but I hit a few snags while writing one. I'm happy with this one so enjoy! :3

Cold bit into her skin and a sob escaped her throat. Serica wiped away her frozen tears winced as her hands began to burn.
"What am I going to do?" she whispered to herself, her voice freezing in the air. The blizzard whipped through her hair, causing ice to form on her auborn hair. Her Terrible Terror Firebreathe wheezed and blew steam to try to keep her warm. She shut her eyes and felt her legs collapse. Why hadn't she just listened? She could be warm in her bed if only she had made her choice.

One Day Earlier

Serica quickly braided her hair and ran down the stairs of her home. Firebreathe glided down and landed on her shoulder just before she ran out the door. Her parents were already down at the village center and she hurried to arrive before they noticed her absence.
She squeezed into the egaer group of teenagers and slowly made her way to the front. Her mother gave her a look and Seria quickly looked down. Her father stood proud on the stage and looked out over the gathered village. Her grandparents sat next to her mother. Stoicks beard had streaks of red, showing the color it once was.
"Welcome! Today is a very special day, as always. But more so, because today, my daughter will be among one to choose a dragon!" The crowd applauded and her father motioned for her to step forward. Serica shyly stepped up to the stage and her father wrapped an arm around her shoulder.
"Let the day begin!" They fledgeling dragons and viking teens began to merge. Serica stood at the edge of the crowd, leary of finding a dragon. Everyone wondered what dragon she would choose. Would it be a beautiful Deadly Nadder, like her mother, or a powerful Night Fury, like her father? So much pressure stood on her shoulder's.
She felt a soft hand touch her shoulder and Serica jumped. Caleri smiled at the younger girl and dropped her hand.
"Caleri, you scared me." she said. The older woman ran her fingers through her black hair.
"I didn't mean to. Just came to give you some friendly advice." Serica gave her a strange look and Caleri spoke again. "If you don't find yor dragon now, don't worry. I didn't find Sila until the night after." Serica looked down and sighed.
"But I don't know what to do. Everyone expects me to choose a Night Fury, or a Nadder, but what if that's not what I want?" Caleri shrugged and put her hands on Serica's shoulders.
"I can't tell you what to shoose, but go with your heart. More then not it has helped me choose the right path." The woman then waved and walked away, her strange but beautiful dragon following her.
The day went by, but no she didn't approach any dragon. Snow began to fall, and people began to hed off to their homes. Her parents found her and Astrid put an arm around her.
"Let's get home, Serica." They made there way up to home and Hiccup shut the door to the howling wind.
"Maybe tomorrow you will find your dragon," her father said. Serica made her way to her room and flopped onto her bed. Firebreathe curled into her arms and Serica fell into an uneasy sleep.
The next day people talked. She heard their whispers and could see the uneasiness in their faces. She rarely left the house, afraid to hear what they all would say. Astrid and Hiccup sat her down at lunch and tried to talk to her.
"Serica, you don't need to worry about this dragon thing. People will talk, yes, but many people in the village don't have dragons." Astrid said.
"But being the daughter of the chief means that you will need to choose a dragon. Whatever you choose, we will be happy," Hiccup added.
"But there is so much pressure!" Seria said. "What if I don't want a dragon?! What if all I want is Firebreathe?" She lovingly stroked the Terror's head and he purred.
"Having Firebreathe is fine, but as future chief, you need to have a riding dragon!" Hiccup retorted.
"I don't want a riding dragon!" Serica shouted and shoved away from the table. "And I never wanted to be chief!" She ran out the back door and into the soft falling snow. She ran, away from the village, away from the responsibility, away from the pressure. Firebreathe flapped quickly behind her.
She didn't know how far she ran, but her legs gave out and she fell to her knees in the snow. Firebreathe landed at her side, nuddging her arm. She picked him up and hugged him close. They sat like that for a few moments, Serica crying. The wind began to pick up, twisting at her hair.
She regreted storming out on her parents. They hadn't done anything wrong. She just overreacted, but all her life she had such high expectations placed on her. She had to be the best at everything, and she had finally just reached her breaking point.
The cold began to make her numb and Firebreathe puffed steam to help her stay warm. Minutes, maybe hours passed and she fought the urge to fall asleep in the falling snow. A sudden roar made her jump and she tumpled a few feet down the mountain. The cold air burned her lungs as she stared at the mass that was moving the snow.
A tanish dragon moved snow off its wings and it's eyes met hers. She instantly knew what specis it was.
"A Stormcutter," she whispered. She crawled towards the dragon, noticing it was smaller then her grandmothers. Must be a fledgling, she thought. It grunted and tried to push away from her. One of its lower wings was limp and it flinched.
"Please, I won't hurt you. I just want to help." The dragon gave her a wary look but allowed her to come nearer. Firebreathe made a few squacks and chirps, and the Stormcutter relaxed a bit. Serica gently opened the wing and felt th break. It wasn't too bad, and she quickly set it. The dragon snarled and jerked away. Its wing stayed set though, so the pain began to ease.
It sniffed her hair and gave her a lick. She laughed and whiped its slober from her hair. She lifted her hand and gently held it in front of its face. It cocked its head and sniffed her hand. Firebreathe made some noises and the Stormcutter's ears perked up. It then placed its snout into her hand.
Warmth flooded into her arm and through her body, chasing away the cold. The dragon shivered and sneezed into her hand. She laughed and slowly stood. The Stormcutter shook the rest of the snow off itself and flapped its good wings.
"Do you know the way back to the village, Firebreathe?" Serica asked. The little dragon flew into the air and cawed. He began to fly down the mountain and they made their slow decent.
Her house started to come into view and she saw her mother and father landing their dragons. Astrid turned her head and relief broke out across her face.
"Serica!" she exclaimed, and ran to her daughter. Serica welcomed her mother's strong hug, and felt her father join in. They pulled away and Astrid had tears in her eyes. "We were so worried! I'm so glad you are safe!"
"I'm so sorry, Mom. I just snapped. I didn't mean for you both to worry." Her parents looked behind her to see the Stormcutter behind her.
"I see you have found your dragon," Hiccup laughed, running his hand down the dragon's flank. "What's his name?" Serica thought for a moment, and the perfect name came to him.
"Icewing." The Stormcutter nuzzled her back and Serica hugged his head. Firebreathe wrapped around her neck. Hiccup and Astrid laughed, and they made their way back into the house.

I do the exact same thing! When I was in HS I had people offer me CASH to write their stories, but I am so afraid no one will enjoy what I write that it's super hard for me to go public with it. So it sits in a huge file on my laptop gathering dust.....
