All the sudden, I was 15 again and Toothless had Dad pinned under him, ready to fire at him head on..
"Toothless, no!"
Suddenly there was fire all around me and the bewilderbeast battle was over..

I was all alone, trying to understand and accept the things going on around me, but I couldn't. Toothless would never purposely hurt me or my dad. I looked up from my kneeling position, the world dark and smoky around me. I began to sob; I was all alone wherever I was.
"Dad? Toothless?" I asked into the darkness. Nobody was there, not even Astrid.

"It's getting worse,"
I felt my son's forehead. Water that would turn hot the second it touched him coated his auburn bangs.
"No, leave him alone, you'll only make it worse!" Hiccup cried out.
'Sounds like me.' I thought to myself. "Hiccup," I gently brushed his soft bangs aside

"Hiccup" I heard a familiar voice from behind me. I looked up but the tears simply couldn't stop.
"Hiccup," I felt strong large hands on my shoulder that could only belong to one person. But it was as if I were stuck in this position, not able to move a muscle.
"D..d..Dad?" I hesitantly asked. I began to cry endless tears as he held me in his tight embrace.

Hiccup thrashed about crying as toothless attempted to calm him.

"Hiccup."
His deep accent sounded. I was finally calm in his arms.

Grief-...the loss of Stoick weighing real heavily on Hiccup, takes it's toll on him both physically and emotionally... and, everyone who's supporting him seems to have no way to stop it from eating away at everything Hiccup is..


I'm guessing now it takes place at least a month or more before Snoggletog... and there's a lot of parts where... after the stuff I've already posted... He just can't keep himself together because the grief is just taking him over...

I don't want to reveal too much of the plot but... that seems to be where this story's going...

I sort of hope it ends on Snoggletog or Snoggletog ends up being a series of one shots...

Everyone crowded around the docks I stood besides Gobber and Toothless.

“Ahh Berk, my favorite island in the Archipelago!” the trader happily hopped off his ship.

It was a dark morning, as the long winter nights were beginning to set in, and devastating winter would be here soon.

“Welcome to Berk,” I tried to fake a smile, but everyone knew, I’m not a very good liar. Mom stood in back of me, trying to keep my now frail frame from just flat out trembling.

“Where’s Stoick?” it hit me again like stones in a rockslide.

“He..he….” the tears began to fill my eyes. I tried to catch my breath, but- my tears broke like a ship taking on water.

Mom caught me as I began to loose my balance. “He… died,.. Johann,”

“S..s..saving me…” I mumbled crying.

How could I be chief of Berk, when all this grief was constantly gaping away at me? I just needed to get away from here for a while. The first few months after the whole, Drago thing- somehow those seemed easier then now. Maybe it was the darker winter nights, or the creeping cold. Would I ever be at peace with this?
