Ooh, I think I see foreshadowing!

Chapter 15

 

"We have to leave now, Val, if we're to get to the Chieftain's Meeting in time.'
"You'll be alright, won't you, Stoick?'
"Don't worry, Val, I'll be fine.'
"But what if something happens-' Valka was interrupted by Hiccup, who was starting to cry. It was as if he knew that something bad was going to happen.
Stoick left the hut, and closed the door behind him - gently, so as not to set Hiccup off crying again.
"Oh, Hiccup... Your father will be alright, won't he?'
The baby gurgled nervously.

"Be grateful that I at least had the mercy to give you all a proper Viking funeral."

I like it so far! It's getting really mysterious.

Chapter 16

 

"So boy, did you enjoy your walk?' Drago sneered.
"Y-yes, I did...'
It was starting to get dark, so I followed Drago into the cave.
"Tomorrow, boy, you'll start your new job.'
"Uh... Okay... Well, goodnight.'
"Goodnight, boy.' Drago said gruffly.
I turned around and started to walk out of the cave.
"Where are you going, boy?' Drago asked, without turning around.
"J-just going to feed the dragons...'
He still seemed suspicious, but he nodded anyway.
"Check the traps too."

"Hey, Aldin.' I greeted the Nadder. He was the only dragon still awake. Aldin got up, and tried to move towards me as much as his chain would let him.
"Come on. We're going out to check the traps.'
Aldin's golden eyes grew sad again.
"I remember when I was like them...' he sighed. 'Those young dragons, just running and playing with their brothers and sisters, then... SNAP! They're caught in a trap...'
"Well, hopefully, they've escaped, or someone's rescued them.' Drago would not be pleased, whatever the outcome.

"Yolmah, be careful. It's your first raid.' my mother said anxiously.
"I will, Mother...'
"And remember, don't fly too close to the ground. The night sky will hide you.'
"Yes Mother, I know...'
"I just don't want you to end up like your father!'
"I won't...'
But I was wrong.
My mother had always told me to look down at the ground, everywhere, all around me. This time, the attack happened faster than I could fly.
I felt a sharp pain in my side. I was going to roar with pain, but I knew I wouldn't have time. I plummeted down into darkness blacker than my scales.
"You're mine now, Night Fury..."

Chapter 17

 

"RAAAARRRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!" A dragon's scream of pain broke the peaceful silence of the woods.
"Looks like we've got one...' I whispered. I started to walk towards where the sound had come from.
"Eret- no.' Aldin begged.
"Please...' he was nearly crying now.
"I don't want them to become like us...'
"I'm sorry, Aldin.' I said, stroking the Nadder's snout. "But we don't have any choice. I saw what Drago did to you, just for trying to run away. Who knows what he'd do if we just left it there, or even set it free? And anyway, even if we did just leave it there, it'd probably bleed to death.'
"Let's just wait a bit longer.' suggested Aldin.
We waited another five minutes, and eventually, we saw a masked figure approach the trap. They knelt down and started to undo it, stroking the dragon's side, and whispering to it soothingly.
My hand reached for my sword in my belt. Doing so made a twig snap on the ground.
The masked figure whipped their head around. We'd been seen. They started to move towards Aldin slowly, making little clicking noises with their tongue.
Aldin started to purr, and he moved towards the figure. The figure raised their staff in the air. Suddenly, all of Drago's dragons started to fly towards her, so quietly, that Drago wouldn't have heard them leave.
The dragons stood in a semicircle around the figure. Then they ran off, as quickly as they had come.
"Drago will be pleased about this..."

Love how the plot's going! Is this your longest story so far?

Chapter 17

 

"Where are the dragons?!' Drago demanded.
"They... were stolen...
"By who?!'
"I... I don't know... They were masked...'
Get the tracker dragons. Nobody steals from me, and lives to tell the tale...'
"Changewings... Where are you...? I've got some food for you...'
One of the Changewings whimpered. Wait, that couldn't have been a Changewing!
The dragon whimpered again. I followed the sound to a tiny cage, where I could just make out the shapes of two Changewings, taunting whatever was inside.
HEY! Get away from it!' I shouted.
The Changewings reluctantly slunk off. Or, at least, I thought they did.
One appeared behind me, and hissed into my ear.
"So... Why are you in here, human?'
"Well... Drago needs you to track someone...'
The Changewing's eyes gleamed.
"Of course... They won't even see us coming... What do they look like...?'
"They were masked, so I couldn't really tell... I saw them undoing the dragon traps.'
Perfect. We'll just wait for them to come along...'
"By the way, what was that thing in the cage?'
"A Night Fury... Master captured it last night... It's only a hatchling... He's going to kill the parents tomorrow...'
"Unless they find him first..." I said nervously.
