Chapter 18

 

"Yolmah? Son, where are you?' I called. He hadn't returned after the raid. Maybe he'd been killed, or captured by Vikings.
I roared for him. My call was answered by a tiny whimper.

"Mother? Mother! She's come to save me!'
"Nothing can save you now, Night Fury... Not even your mother. Master will kill her. And then you'll have nobody... Nobody...but us...' a Monstrous Nightmare snarled.

I flew towards the sound of the whimpering.
Then I caught the scent of a man.
A man... who was responsible for the murder of all the other Night Furies...
"So, Kahriil...' he snarled.
He held out his cape to me.
"Drago...'
"I killed your husband, Kahriil..."

Chapter 19

 

"You... killed my family...' I snarled.
He did nothing to deny it.
I prepared to spring at him, but just as I was in mid-air, a a net closed around me, forcing me to the ground.
"Well done, boy.'
"Now take her to see her son...'
The boy tried to drag me over to a huge cage, where other dragons were being kept. Yolmah was in there somewhere...

Chapter 20 (It's going to be a longer one!)

 

"So, Bewilderbeast...' Drago snarled.
The sound that came from the Bewilderbeast then, if it had not been such a big dragon, might have been a whimper.
'I've heard a lot about your species. You have the power to control dragons...'
The dragon growled in agreement.
'And I need you to control some dragons for me... A Night Fury mother and son...'
"No, human, I will not do that. A great king such as myself does not abuse his power in such a way...You would be wise to take notice of how my species treat their subjects, for we do not enslave them like you do.'
'But, you are, after all, a human, and humans do not make good kings, as you have shown me."
"I will not be lectured by a dragon. You seem to forget that you are not in charge of how you treat your 'subjects'. I am. And I am in charge of you, too. You are mine now...'

"You really are something, human, to have downed not one, but two Night Furies. The only person who can do that is the Hiccup in the Prophecy. You have changed fate itself...' Yolmah's mother said to Eret, in her cage.
"W-what's the Prophecy?' Eret asked.
"In fourteen years time, a Hiccup will down a Night Fury. He will develop a bond with it, so that in twenty years time, he will free us...'
Eret's eyes widened, with wonder, and then, fear. He turned around to see his boss walking towards him.
"Oh... Drago!'
"What have you been doing with it...?'
"Erm... nothing! Absolutely nothing at all!' he laughed nervously.
Drago pushed Eret roughly out of the way. He walked over to the cage, smiling in evil pleasure.
Kahriil knew better than to snarl.
"I don't need you, Night Fury. You're useless. It's your son that I want...'
Yolmah whimpered as Drago walked towards his cage.
"This one will be easy to break.' he said to Eret. 'Their minds are weaker. I won't even need the Bewilderbeast to control it. It's terrified of me already!'
'It's time, little Night Fury.'
"T-time for what...?" he squeaked.
'You'll see..."
