Night Fury

For some reason, I seem to have lost the other story I wrote, which is the prequel... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You know when you're asleep, and you think you're back at home for a second, but you're not? That's what happened to me. I woke up, thinking that I would be back home in the Night Fury den, with Death, and Darkwing, and Blaze. Instead, I was on a ship, and dragons were in cages all around me. Death and Darkwing were in those cages. I've woken up to seeing this for the last year. My training as a war dragon has finished. I snarl at my brother and my father. They have betrayed me. I am loyal only to Drago now. I will die for him. I am not who I used to be anymore; that scrawny little Night Fury. I am 10 years old now, as old as my brother. I am a war dragon now. "DRAGON!' my master screams. "Yes Master?' "Because you are a war dragon now, I am sending you out out on a very important mission. Many dragons have failed this task, but you will do it...' "What is the mission, Master?' "Bring the runt and the Night Fury to me. I want them alive...' "Master, I cannot do that.' "Do it, or you die.' "The Night Fury is my own kind... I would be betraying my own kind.' "You've already betrayed your own kind, haven't you?!' I did not answer. My master unlocked my cage door. "If you come back empty handed, you will die.' "Yes, Master.' --------------------------------------------------------------------- Toothless and I were flying, like we usually were. Suddenly, Toothless's pupils dilated, and he growled. "Whoa, what is it, bud?' "Hiccup, we need to go. Now.' Toothless tried to fly back, but we heard a screeching sound. Something rammed into me, and I fell off of Toothless. "HICCUP!' "TOOTHLESS!' Thank Thor, I fell onto solid ground. The thing, whatever it was approached from behind and grabbed me by the back of my armour. Then it lifted me up. Suddenly, Toothless dive-bombed the thing that was lifting me up. I think it was a dragon. As I was falling, Toothless caught me in his claws and dropped me onto the ground. He checked me over, and once he saw I was OK, he ran over to fight that dragon. --------------------------------------------------------------------- I stood over the boy, growling. "Do it, and I'll rip you apart.' snarled the Night Fury, whose name was Toothless. "Try me.' Toothless lunged at me. For all my training as a war-dragon, I wasn't fast enough to dodge him. I ended up on my back. Toothless held a paw over me, so I couldn't get away. He got right up close to my face, and got ready to fire. "TOOTHLESS! NO!' Toothless stepped off of me. The boy approached me. He held out his hand. Suddenly, my anger that had built up inside me for a year vanished completely. I let the boy touch me. My pupils went from slits to full. "Come on, we're going to free your friends.' He climbed onto Toothless's back, and flew off. I followed him. --------------------------------------------------------------------- "Wha- Eret?! What are you doing here?! Astrid? Snotlout? Fishlegs? Ruff? Tuff?' "We're saving the dragons.' Eret replied. "OK guys, follow me. Shadow, you come too.' --------------------------------------------------------------------- When we saw Drago's ship sailing towards us in the mist, my immediate thoughts were, in no particular order: "RUN! RUN! RUN!' I started to roar with terror. "Shhhh, it's alright, Shadow...' Hiccup said. "Try not to make any noise...' The other dragons panicked too. "OK, now, Shadow, you go and check around...' I obediently flew over to the ship. I started shaking so much I could barely fly. There wasn't anybody there. I flew back. "Astrid, you go onto the deck of the ship...' whispered Hiccup. "Eret, follow her...' --------------------------------------------------------------------- I jumped down from my Monstrous Nightmare, a flare in my hand. "Astrid, come with me. I know better about this place than any of you.' As I walked around, I saw those poor dragons in cages. I walked very quietly, for fear of waking them up. Unfortunately, I didn't see a coil of rope that was on the deck. I tripped over it. I screamed as I fell. The dragons awoke, and began a terrible cacophany of screeching, and roaring. "UH OH...' "Oh, um, hi, Drago...' Drago didn't look pleased to see us, to say the least. He advanced towards me, and my dragon, and Shadow, and Astrid and Stormfly. Shadow purred and tried to slink towards his Master. My dragon did too. Drago still continued to walk towards us, a nasty grin on his face. "Drago... What are you going to do to us...?' He still said nothing, just kept walking towards me. Eventually I ran out of deck to back away on, and Drago grabbed me by the back of my furs. Then, he finally spoke. "Hiccup... I've got Eret here, boy. If you don't come and give yourself up, I'll have him drowned.' --------------------------------------------------------------------- Toothless shot fowards onto the ship, snarling terribly. "No, bud... NO!' Toothless had leapt onto Drago. "SHADOW! ERET! CAPTURE THEM!' Shadow and I stayed where we were. Drago had managed to throw Toothless off him. He turned round to Hiccup. Hiccup drew Inferno. "Did you really just draw your sword, boy? That's the only thing keeping you alive. My dragons are terrified of it. So, if something were to happen to make me have the sword, then what's to stop me from making my dragons tear you apart...?' --------------------------------------------------------------------- "I'm not afraid of you, Drago.' I said, with a lot more confidence than I felt. "Really?! Well, FIGHT ME THEN!!!' I peered closely at Drago's cape. It looked like it was made out of dragonskin. Dragonskin is fireproof. And my sword was made out of fire. I dropped it, with a loud clang. "Take it,' I said miserably. "I'm your prisoner now.' Drago picked up the sword. "How do you turn it on?!' "Here, let me show you.' Eret smiled at me knowingly. I smiled too. I pressed the button that released the Zippleback gas. It came out in a green cloud. "Quick! Let's go!' "Hiccup, our dragons are tied up!' "Just hide somewhere!' BOOOM! The gas exploded, sending smoke and ash and fire scattering in all directions. The ship's mast caught on fire. It fell down in the middle of the ship, nearly crushing us. The sparks landed on the wood, and they sprang up, into a semi circle of fire. Soon the fire joined up into a circle. Drago was nowhere to be seen. Suddenly a shape appeared in the fire. Drago walked out, completely unharmed, brushing a few sparks off his cape. "Thanks for helping us trap ourselves, idiot.' Eret muttered to me. --------------------------------------------------------------------- --------------------------------------------------------------------- "I'm sooo bored...' "Shut up, Ruffnut.' "Don't tell me to shut up! It's your fault we're here.' "Yeah Hiccup, why couldn't you have freed the dragons?!' Tuffnut demanded. "Tuff, I told you, we didn't have enough time.' "And I've already got enough to deal with; Drago's got Toothless...' "Don't worry, Hiccup, he'll make a much better cape...' snarled Eret, from beyond the cages. Shadow was snarling too. Eret found Astrid's axe at his throat. He gulped. "Point that somewhere else... You're not meant to have that with you... I'll tell Drago..' choked Eret. |
