hi im réka im developing a mildly unhealthy obsession with obiwan kenobi (more like obiwan kenoBAE am i right) my personal tumblr is ninja-stop im also writing a fantasy/humor novel called RESET which i won nanowrimo 2015 with i have a writing tumblr for it if you wanna check that out yeah thats it this probably isnt what should go in a signature but w/e i have 2 pet buns | |

One by one, the men, women, and children of the tribe bow their heads and settle on their knees where they stand. Most of them are tearful. Tyra's eyes widen as she sees her child standing near the docks with her parents, and she sighs a few sobs. There would be no breaking the news carefully. "I...we...um..." She can hardly express herself, and her voice is soft. "We need to ensure that his journey is safe." (My Viking knowledge is weak here. The most noble were cremated on ships, but I don't remember if that was just because they were rich of if it was a symbol for sending them into the afterlife like the Egyptians.) |

She wipes her cheeks of tears and manages a very small smile. "It has two options: one, we marry our eight-year-old daughter to a neighboring tribe which we're currently at war with; two, since he has no direct successors, his family surrenders its title, and we name a new chief. Hagen recommended a name for the second option." Even to the last of his breaths, he had done his best to protect the interests of his people, and, even though there were options, he had made his preferred choice rather clear. That is what Tyra smiled for. "However, I refuse to marry my daughter away nor give up our family's name until Hagen is properly laid to rest. Please, take my husband from the deck of this wretched ship!" She bursts into tears again. |

"Very well..." Derik picks up Hagen and starts moving him to the Chief's Hut on the far side of the island, overlooking the rest of the village and sets him down on his bed. He sits down and smiles. "I wonder who you reccomended..." |

Tyra stands, shaking, and stumbles her way to her daughter. "Mama...why...is...is Father...?" A few villagers depart to discuss which of the few ships left will be the one for their leader. Others follow Derik solemnly with various items in their arms, and, once in the cabin, silently begin to dress Hagen for the funeral. They will need a leader soon; for now, mourning causes them to carry themselves in an unusually organized way. |

That very evening, the funeral service is held. Hagen's journey to the land of celebrated heroes is carefully launched by his family and friends amongst tears and sorrowful farewells. The orange sun on the horizon halos his ship and mixes with leaping yellow strokes of flame sent from fiery arrows that bid the chief his last goodbye. Tyra lowers her bow and sinks to her knees as she watches her beloved husband leave her. She feels their separation like a tear in her heart, and she whispers to him: "Please, please watch over us. We'll need your guidance...especially with the war soon to be in the hands of a new chief." |
