Salt breathed a sharp sigh of relief. They had almost seen him. Salt was a subspecies of dragon later to be known by the academy as 'Night Terror'. He was the size of a terrible terror, small and very agile. His scales were pitch black and each was flecked with a white tip. The dragon; a night fury; sat as a comrade to this... boy? an equal? Salt was perplexed. He was on a scouting mission, he had spent the day observing the island, and he figured it would be an easy take for his queen...

"It's nice to be home" It was Lylith. It was early morning. Basking in the grey tint of Dragon Island she resembled a night fury, but she was not. She wore a similar body shape but was slightly smaller and her scales were a mixture of light to dark blue to purple. Lilyth was later to be known as the first 'Singing Death' to ever grace any Berkian with their presence. Why singing death?

She did not have a loud bark or a dangerous bite, Lilyth to the observer would seem relatively harmless to an uneducated observer. But what she did have, was a voice, powerful enough she could tell a dragon they had never flown before and that dragon would believe her. Powerful enough to control armies as a commander yet never once actually battle. This ability had lead her to becoming a fierce and formidable competitor for the throne of the red death before she fled to build her own hive... and she had...

There were hundreds of dragons under her control, and of all species too. But she kept an inner circle of four dragons beside her, her most loyal. A deadly nadder; Salt, the night terror; a monstrous nightmare and Grindlehood, her oldest friend, a gronkle...
"Salt, any news?" Lilyth raises her head to the fast approaching night terror. "No Mistress" She scowls playfully at him "Come on we've known each other long enough now, call me Lylith" Salt bowed his head slightly before continuing "Yes Lylith, there is an Island; Berk. On it humans who ride dragons, dragons which could be key to your plans... I saw two night furies.."Lylith seemed taken aback for a moment... then calmed herself and she grinned maliciously... "Perfect"... but there was a hint of distress in her voice...

"So have you ever petted a dragon before?" Astrid smiled at two new recruits. Crisalida was red-headed with green eyes and not too tall. Jo, a brunet stood beside her. She was slightly taller but Crisalida was the smart one. They were cousins, Jo's parents had taken Crisalida into their home when she was only Ten. Her parents had been "Lost at sea..." along with Jo's mother. The sixteen year old was still unsure of what this meant exactly but she had a new family, Jo, who was a year older, her aunt (Jo's step mom) and her uncle... "Eh... no", Crisalida spoke.

It was their first day at the academy, neither of the pair had a dragon. Although it was a private lesson, Stardust counted herself in attendance too, strangely without Jay. Astrid was gesturing to Stormfly. "Go ahead"...

"Eh... I'm not sure" said Crisalida. "What if something happens, like she doesn't trust us and tries to harm us?"
"Come on Cris, nothing will happen. Here I'll do it with you" said Jo trying to calm her cousin and grabbing her hand.
"Wait, Jo, I'm not ready" she said back, but by that time she already had her hand in Stormfly's snout. "Okay, now this is cool"

Jo just smiled as she petted the dragon. It felted, different, she never expirienced something like this before it was way cooller than what she thougt. "I wish mom could see this" she tought "she loved this kind of creatures"

"You see, if you trust her..." Astrid paused as she gave Stormfly a scratch. "...she'll trust you" Astrid smiled before continuing. "Now I've got a basket of chicken handy, if you want to have a go at feeding her" Astrid pointed to her right by the edge of the arena. "There"... She strided over and dragged it back with just a little effort..

Crisalida and Jo just approached the basket and took out a piece of chicken. The girls got near the Nadder and extended her the chicken. When she took it from Crislida's hands she just saw in amusement how the dragon ate it.

"Wow, it's so weird yet so great to do that" Crisalida said, she never even fed a common animal, let alone a dragon, but for the first time this wasn't bad. Jo just gave the dragon her chicken and let out a small nervous chuckle when she took it but just as Crisalida she felt great doing it.

Stardust tilted her head. Wasn't Stormfly already trained? Sometimes humans are crazy... And why didn't she get a delicious chicken snack?
What should I write on my signature? Hmm...
I am a Httyd, Gravity Falls and Portal (One and two) fan.
I'm also a bookworm and an introvert.
That was pretty random, but that's me summed up in two sentences.

"Here Stardust, Astrid beckoned" She grabbed a piece of chicken from the basket as a lure. "It's a great feeling the first time, right?" She looked at the pair as they watched on in amazement. "Stormfly here is a deadly nadder and you do not want to get on her bad side, Stardust over there, the dragon eyeing you up, is a silver phantom, don't expect any better" Astrid grinned to herself "Dangerous and beautiful..."
