They didn't have a victory. They had lost some friends. But they had lived to make it home, honor the dead, and continue on with greater wisdom. "We owe it to this man, Derik, and his crew! Your ship and your sailing guided us here from the storm. Thank-" The chief stops mid-speech to cough. He gasps and falls to his knees, clutching at his chest as he sinks to the deck. |

Derik isn't the only one. Three other warriors within close reach of the chief scurry to his side and kneel in hopes of helping their leader. Hagen only gasps again and manages a small, fleeting smile, but sweat is visible as it drips from his brow. "Odin's beard! I really thought...that I would make it to my wife...before it got to this. Just...just don't remove the armor, and I should be...fine. Someone...someone please go back to steering the ship..." For every loyal countryman on the ship, the events unfolding are utterly terrifying. Many fights break out simultaneously, and their chief sighs as he watches the chaos unfold. "Only one thing for it...then..." He begins an attempt to stand. |
