Sure enough, the walls of this very cave were interwoven with skeins of gold.
Most of the pages were just random bits and pieces of Mirage's life. How she had grown up as a shapeshifting, primarily SandWing dragon, raised in a secluded forest in the SkyWing kingdom with only her parents for company until they were killed by scavengers, how she had learned to survive and fight, how to steal, how she had met her future soulmate, a SkyWing/SeaWing/IceWing/NightWing named Flicker, and most importantly, how she had mastered her animus powers. But there was an entry more alarming than even that:
Today, our egg has hatched! He is a most wonderful child, primarily SkyWing, although the shapeshifting blood runs through him too. But a great tragedy follows the great joy, and the child was taken by Her Cruel Majesty, Queen Scarlet, no doubt for his astounding powers. Before she left, she told us she would name him after what she most wanted him to do: wreak vengeance upon us all. And so, on this day that was supposedly happy, our child was taken from us and...
