There might be a moment in Dragons 2 where the camera goes to Thornado flying in the sky, with Bing, Bang, and Boom flying next to him. Then again, they might not be; it's been five years; they're probably old enough to take care of themselves.

I always knew Thornado was going to be killed off or gotten rid of in the series. I don't know he just didn't seem like a 'Riderworthy' dragon for the sequal. :i |

I like Thunderdrums... But Thornado just didn't have an amazing emotional bond or personality toward Stoick. He just seemed... There. Then again there was no time to establish any character development between them. Skullcrusher seems to fit Stoick's persononality more and they seem to have a strong bond. However, I hate that Thornado just got replaced like that... I just wish he wasn't introduced... It seemed so... Easy? |

Yeah feels like Thornado was just there to like, make sure that in every episode of RoB/DoB He always showed up without looking like he warped on foot. XD |

I like Skullcrusher because I like his design, he looks like a dogbane beetle. However, it is hard to beat "Thornado" as far as names go! |

After seeing more of Skullcrusher, as I've seen the film, I defo say Skullcrusher!

What I've noticed is that the designs of the dragons kind of subtly echo the appearance of their riders. Astrid and Stormfly are the best example of this. Astrid has blonde hair, wears a blue shirt (at least in the first movie and the show), and has a spiky skirt. Stormfly is predominantly blue, and also has some light yellow on her, (close to blonde) and spikes on her head, back, and tail. I think Skullcrusher does a much better job of matching Stoick's look. Stoick has red hair and a big red beard, wears a dark green tunic, and his helmet has two huge horns. Skullcrusher is green and red, and has--wait for it--two big horns on his head. Thornado is just dark blue and flattish, and I've always thought Stoick looked kind of weird riding around on him. So I have to say Skullcrusher is better. I know some people are upset because they feel Thornado was replaced "too easily", maybe in the third season we'll see an episode where Stoick gets Skullcrusher. |
