There'll come a point in his life when Hiccup will care more about Astrid than he will about Toothless. (I ain't saying he won't love Toothless, he'll still love him just as much as he ever has, but he'll love/care for Astrid more) (and no, I ain't being dirty for once!) |

Define love. Love can be in a from of a romantic relationship or a brotherly kind of love. So while Hiccup loves Astrid, he can also love Toothless because to me, Hiccup treats Toothless like his best friend, you can even argue that Hiccup treats Toothless like his brother. So there are both a romantic kind of love and a family kind of love. |

I voted both. I am a huge Hiccstrid shipper, but I have to admit, Toothless is like a part of Hiccup's soul, as cheesy as that sounds, but it's true. Toothless is the heart and soul of the whole franchise. I can't remember exactly where I saw it, but someone, I think one of the writers or directors of the movies, said that he loves Astrid very much, but Toothless was the one line he would never cross for her, but also that "he should never be forced to make that decision." So, he can safely love both.

If Toothless represents friendship, and Astrid represents romance/ love relationship, then I would say friendship triumphs! |
