If Disney made HTTYD*shudders at the thought* A song every 5 minutes The dragons would be able to talk, dance and sing. Stoick would be Hiccup's evil stepfather Valka was the queen of the kingdom of Berk. She decided that her young son Hiccup needed a father in his life so she married Stoick. But Stoick never really loved her. He just wanted to become king. Valka conveniently dies shortly after the marriage. Dagur The Deranged would be Hiccup's stepbrother. He seems like a bad guy at first but is really just being manipulated by his father. *Anastasia in Cinderella 3: A Twist In Time anyone?* Astrid would be a princess from a neighboring kingdom who is expected to wed soon. Stoick and Astrid's parents arrange for her and Dagur to get married. Both Astrid and Dagur agonize over the fact that they are going to be forced into a loveless marriage. Cue sappy, sad song about yearning to break free from their parents wishes so they can follow their own hearts. Astrid and Hiccup meet and it's love at first sight. The Romantic Flight score will be replaced by a cheesy love song. By this time Toothless has been reduced to one of those annoying sidekick characters. Olaf, Mushu, Flounder Astrid and Hiccup sadly part ways knowing that Astrid is to be married to Dagur. On the day of the wedding ceremony, Toothless tells Hiccup to "follow his heart" and tell Astrid that he loves her. Hiccup, Toothless and a dragon army arrive just as Dagur and Astrid are about to be declared husband and wife. He declares his love to Astrid. Stoick is enraged by this of course and an epic battle breaks out. Dagur frees himself from his father's evil influence and joins sides with Hiccup. Blah, blah, blah Stoick meets his end and everything is right with the world again. The movie ends with a newlywed Hiccup and Astrid flying off together on Toothless. The End. The sequel would deal with Hiccup and Astrid's kid. Sound pretty Disneyish to you guys. |

And Hiccup, Astrid, and Toothless would become those "irritating" parents (and dragon) who don't let the kid do anything fun so the kid runs away from home and sings a song about running away from home. |

Ugh! No! Not even in Dragonese... In fact, definitely not in Dragonese... The thing I love about Toothless is that he is able to say a thousand words with his expressions and character - he doesn't need to say that he's annoyed with Hiccup, or scream audibly while they fall through the air, or shout at Hiccup to leave him alone. He says it all without speaking. And it is so much better that way. |
