I don't think it will destroy them. Even if it's terrible, original HTTYD fans will remember original HTTYD and recommend it to people who are looking, whether those people have seen HTTYDLA or not. And if it's not terrible, I expect it will just bring in more fans, who will like the Live Action and perhaps look to find the original. :) But maybe I'm too optimistic. Only time will tell, I guess...

I go where no one goes

my thought is NO. STOP. LITERALLY STOP.

I would not say it's going to destroy anything... just like one company making a cheap off-brand version of another company's cereal wouldn't do anything to the original. it's just... LITERALLY WHY. do they think they're going to make a "better" version? whatever it is, it's an insult to animation.

LITERALLY WHY.
MONEY.

If anything, I wish they'd put Dean DeBlois somewhere among the viking crowd. Would be a cool cameo.

I recently found out about some of the actors and I haven't seen that information on the forum yet so I'll just put it here. :P

Besides the actors for Hiccup, Astrid, Stoic and Gobber, here are the actors that will play:

Snotlout :snotlout: : Gabriel Howell
Fishlegs :fishlegs: : Julian Dennison
Ruffnut :ruffnut: : Bronwyn James
Tuffnut :tuffnut: : Harry Trevaldwyn

Personally, the ones that bother me the most are the actors for Ruffnut and Tuffnut. :/ What do you guys think?
I like the emojis. They’re cool :P :X ^) :/ :'( 8) -_- :ermm:  :$ :D :O  :( ^_^ ;) :) >:( <3  :astrid: :valka: :stoick: :eret: :drago: :fishlegs: :ruffnut: :tuffnut: :snotlout: :gobber: :toothless: :alpha: :nightfuryegg: :nightmareegg: :gronckleegg: :terroregg: :nadderegg: :zipplebackegg: :gronckleegg: :potato:

That would be a fun easter-egg! Think he'd need to grow the beard out a good bit though to really fit in. :P

B-BAWK!

The teaser is here!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JfmYkC7DQIQ

I'd say I don't hate how it looks. It looks from the teaser alone that they're going with a fairly 1/1 reenactment, which feels a little silly to me—we have the movie already; why do we need basically a frame-for-frame remake? Only this one is slightly more uncanny valley and darker. :P

But that's just the teaser that they're trying to appeal to the classic fans with, and we don't know what else there will be to it. Maybe it'll be the same, just live action. Or maybe they'll take it another direction.

My personal thoughts on this whole thing is that I would prefer something that's inspired by the story, just like the movies were inspired by the books but clearly aren't trying to retell the same story. It doesn't look like they're doing that here though.

Again, I don't hate it. Perhaps people who enjoy live action more than animation will enjoy a look back at an old favorite. Perhaps they'll do something fun (that doesn't totally forget about the theme of the original).

The one thing that this doesn't have the capacity to do is ruin the original. The original will still exist, completely unaltered. A remake doesn't impact that in any way. So if I don't enjoy the live action... no problem! I'll just keep enjoying the original like I've been doing for the past seven years that I've been a fan. :)

Oh man, these forums are still active? it's been what, 10 years since Defenders of Berk? I was a huge lurker back then, and sadly circumstances drifted me away from Dragons since then. I wonder what happened to some of the old mods like IcelandicEel. But hey I'm back here again after seeing the live action trailer. <3

I'm a huge fan of the first movie so I'm quite disappointed at how the new live action is the exact same as the animated one, but hey it's still looking to be high quality, it doesn't butcher the old movie and the cast so far is looking really good.

I guess they are trying to play it safe by not angering as many fans as possible, but this honestly signals the burial of the franchise. Dreamworks would rather work on more Shrek movies or their other IPs that already have hype around them rather than creating a new one for HTTYD, which is understandable but c'mon, Dragons deserve better, it's genuinely the best world DW has.

There is the possibility that they will maybe change the story after the events of the first movie, which I would support. A new angle to view the world of Dragons is always interesting. 8)

Oh heyyy!! Nice to meet you!

This site needs to be revived!

I'll most likely go see it in theaters too if my studies don't prevent me. Gotta reignite my love for Dragons somehow.
