Not to sure about the soundtrack... To me it's just a remix of the orignial and I don't really want to buy it now... :-/
I honestly don't see why you think it sounds like aremix. I jean, yes there are recurring themes (like almost all films have), but I wouldn't call it 'just a remix'.

For example, Powell is using the pipes how they're supposed to be used now, I.e. aggressive and designed to strike fear into you, unlike in the first film, where they were much more cheery.
I agree, plus I love they mixed a bit of the amazing old tune in there!
What should I write on my signature? Hmm...
I am a Httyd, Gravity Falls and Portal (One and two) fan.
I'm also a bookworm and an introvert.
That was pretty random, but that's me summed up in two sentences.

Gotta say, I'm LOVING the soundtrack so far!! Every time I hear the Test Drive theme, I just want to cheer! It's all sooo epic!! So, now I'm even more pumped for the movie (if that's even possible)!!!! Also, love the new themes we've got! Can't wait to get my copy! :)

I just finished listening to the whole thing, and honestly I don't think it sounds that much like the original at all... in fact I was actually a little disappointed by how different it is, but like in a weird way because I love this score almost if not just as much as the first one.

I love the whole thing, but something about that like 8 or 9 second bit in track 12 (it has a spoilery title kind of) starting at 5:30 is KILLING me. I keep replaying it over and over again, something about it is so amazing and its my favorite part of the whole score.

I don't mind eels except as meals and the way they feels

Not downloading because of spoilers....
The song titles are already quite spoilery.
Spoiler: click to toggle
I have, however, downloaded Where No On Goes, and its on repeat.
Can't get enough of Jónsi's brilliance, and combined with Powell's.. it just makes my head explode.

Could be longer though, a 2 minute song is a bit disappointing, I want more!
In the darkness before the dawn,
In the swirling of the storm,
When I'm rolling with the punches,
And hope is gone,
Leave a light,
A light on.

I've downloaded every single one. Did anyone else burst out laughing when listening to For The Dancing And The Dreaming?
I love the end where Craig Ferguson shows off his singing skills :D "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-I'm still goiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing!" :D
Me? An otaku? Pfff.

Yes I do like dragons if you're wondering. Doesn't seem like it from my profile pic n signature, I know, but I do.

But why doesn`t Cate Blanchett sing in "The Dancing And The DReaming"?
Why do they use a different actor on her there, it isn`t like Stoick`s singing is extremely good, her didn`t need to be either.

She most likely thought that she didn't want to be "ridiculed" for her singing.

The only songs that sound like they are out of the first film is the Battle of the Bewilderbeast, and Dragon Races. They have similar themes which is just common sense in the music world for writing for a sequel. Other than that, there's almost no similarity aside from the basic theme riff.
