The fact that you can't shake off the feeling probably means something... I'm not an expert, tough... I wonder why you are so worried. OK what if you have the feeling you dont quite grasp what Hiccup feels ? Which may or may not happen, because I trust the production team to make it show and feel. And even if you don't know what it's like, you've probably thought about your future, and maybe fear it a little, as we all would some time, even if it seems distant right now. Gods, I'm not sure all this means something And PS, you are not weird, just a sane person thinking things over, nothing wrong with that ! |

Thanks Fynriel and mycove for the support! Its nice to have people who can back up what you’re trying to say. Fynriel you brought up the exact moment I was thinking of when I mentioned relating to Hiccup even more in this one. mr.k.c.w.: Try and relax for now The story will still be fun, charming, and worth seeing. And like we've all said, the relating part might come farther down the road. Hiccup is a VERY relatable character, after all. I'm sure that's a big part of what makes him so popular. And maybe you'll find yourself relating more to a different character this time around. But try not to worry too much. I know doubts like these can be discouraging, but they're usually only temporary. Either you'll love the movie so much that they become irrelevant, or you'll be surprised and find you actually can still relate to Hiccup. |

Well said N4raDov ! We can all relate to a character, no matter who we are, what our lives have put us through. And if it especially works well with our hiccup, it's probably because he has his strenghts as well as his flaws. |

What I love especially about him, and I think that's really a hallmark for a truly great character, is that his gender is completely irrelevant in this. You can relate to him no matter what you are. I feel like there are few characters that feel so human that you're not all that conscious of their gender all the time, but more so of what they're going through and what they feel. |

I have many many doubts for a good reason: It will be a better experience when you do not expect that it will be amazing. What I want is an emotional overflow when I'll see it, the months of exitement before is nothing against the first time you'll see it completly when all doubts are blown away in the first second and you realize "Yes, that's it!" |
UNAMUSED No, I'm serious....stop it.. | |

Fynriel, YES !!! We should stick together and write a hiccup profile ! No kidding, he's the best character that has been created so far to me, he's so complex, there would be a lot to say |

I hope so much that will be that way ! I have my own doubts, thought, having been thrilled during a waiting before and disappointed when the moment arrived (not talking about httyd). But I'm confident about the movie. It's also a sequel to a story and characters we've come to know so well, it's a special case. |

Yes, totally! What I'm really excited to see is where he'll be at the end of this film, emotionally that is. How his experiences might shape and/or change him and what he'll find out about himself. And if the movie truly exceeds in exploring these themes of identity and such, I think there's a chance we might even learn something about ourselves. Wouldn't that be something? Yeah, I mean it is the sequel to my favourite movie of all time, so I'm definitely a bit wary as well. My expecations are already through the roof so I really hope I won't end up too disappointed. |

Exactly this! Hiccup in the first movie was great in helping me see myself more clearly, and I'm anticipating that with this film as well. And I'm also wary of the final impact the second movie will have. We've been waiting for it for so long, have had lots of time to anticipate and form theories and expectations that its gonna be quite something to see how it measures up when we actually see it. But, for all this, I'm still sure no matter what it will be a very good movie. Maybe not on all levels as the first, but I'm okay with that. Beginnings are supposed to be special and memorable. Sequels should be too, but for a whole new set of reasons without losing the heart. And for me, the only way they could lose the heart would be to lose their grasp on Hiccup and Toothless' bond, and I doubt they did that. |
