Edit:I went and got a toothless plushy from build a bear and it was the most awkward experience of my life.
:-) I went there to check it but then I remembered I hated Build a Bear, so I went to the toy store next door and bought myself a small Riders of Berk Toothless plushy :-) Now he sits on my laptop screen while I'm working.
Haha, my friend made me a Toothless plush for Christmas a couple of years ago, and I brought it with me to the theater and hugged it the whole time.

Also, I never pull that "it's for my kid" thing... I'm not ashamed to like what I like. ;) If people think only kids can enjoy stuff like this, it's them that are missing out!

Funny thing is that we have two separate collections of dragon merchandize :-) Plus we like different aspects of the movies. And we are shameless creatures, everybody knows we're dragon fans :-)

Haha, I have to check McD, I don't know whether we have dragons menu here, in the UK. I know they're going to sell great cups with the movie menu once the movie is officially out on the 4th July. By the way, I really like that I have time to think about the movie before watching it for the second time. (there's more than 2 weeks between the father's day pre-screening and the official release).
Yeah, and it's a long story, but I have to admit that the first time I saw HTTYD was a year ago - I am not really a fan of animated movies, and I remember that back in 2010 I didn't understand why the kiddo was so happy when he got a black lizard with his happy meal :-)

Hahaha, yeah, I just went to watch it again because I'm flying to London tonight and I know I won't get a chance to see it over there! ;) It's much better the second time. (Or maybe I was just much more relaxed. Who knows.)

Well, I'm happy you got into HTTYD, then! I pretty much only watch animated films, always have. So I guess I long outgrew being embarrassed about this stuff! (In fact, I still have the Happy Meal toys from the release of the first film!)

Next time just drop a "my kid is a huge fan" even if you don't have one. Nobody gives it a second thought if you look "mom-ish" (or "dad-ish).
:-) Lol, I don't look parent-ish at all, but truth be told my 9-year-old was the first dragon fan in the family, but he is a he and he's not into stuffed toys. But he has at least 3 plastic dragons from Riders of Berk and they're awesome :-)

When I was little my mom and I were both really into Star Wars (I still am!), it's nice to have a parent in the same fandom :-)

My 4 year old got me into it, and is probably the bigger fan. Has the original 5 ROB dragons, and just got a whispering death and thunderdrum. I kid you not, I bet he plays with them every single day. He even demanded that his teacher at preschool start calling him Hiccup.

Not to worry, I just turned 47, so if there's any creeping to be done it's going to be me!

God! I love you whoever you are! I thought I was the oldest fan here but noooo :-)
I'm 36 and counting lol.

When I went to watch HTTYD2 this Sunday (Father's Day pre-screening), there were 5 children (two of them were definitely alibi kids, one baby and one who clearly didn't care about dragons because he was sleeping next to my seat the whole time) and 40 adults. For granted, 10 of them were Japanese guys and yeah, if you're lucky enough to be Japanese you can be an animation fan even when you are 80+ :-D
I'm 36 and counting also.

Dragons, need I say more.

Hiccup, chief of berc, dragon master.
Toothless, alpha dragon.
You and me bud we can do this, as one.
It's just a zipple misunderstanding
I like a pit, but I love a boar pit.
i am hurt,I am very much hurt.

Hah, if the night fury plush I'm working on was done in time he would have come with me. Instead my wife won a sheep from a claw maching full of dragons plushes, who sat on my lap during the movie. I named him "Frank," lol.

27 here! And it's ALWAYS awkward when you're the only adult by yourself in a theater full of couples with small children. XD

No, honestly, I've just always really loved animation so I'm not ashamed at all anymore about going to see animated movies in theaters. Heck, if I like them (like this one) I'll go see them more than once.

Some 13-15 years ago I started to go to movies alone and my friends thought it to be awkward, but it's still my favourite way of sitting in front of the big screen; you don't have to be negotiate about what to watch and when + no more awkward "let's talk about the movie we have just seen" convos :-) So, I'm definitely going to watch dragons alone as well.

Hey, don't you want to do a more adultish discussion thread of the movie? I'm not suggesting anything improper, but I think it's a different experience for a teenager and a tweenager or thirtager or fortager (I obviously cannot discuss it with the 9-year-old, whenever I come up with the subject, he either says "It was amaaaazing." or "Drago Bludvist is a mad man! :-) )
