The Bewilderbeast have the same stats on the Dragonpedia. I posted the pic of Valka's one cause it makes sense with the whole Red Death = evil and the Valka's Bewilderbeast = good. |

I think it really depends on the circumstances and the temperament of the exact Red Death/Bewilderbeast in question. For example, the Red Death we saw disregarded its dragons and immediately fought in person. Valka's Bewilderbeast had its dragons fight alongside it (probably a huge advantage). Drago's Bewilderbeast... I honestly don't know since it always follows Drago's commands and therefore reflects Drago's personality. But from what it is in the movie, it seems indifferent to the other dragons, possibly because Drago never fully allowed it to develop in a true Alpha role. But all things equal, and the alpha question ignored, here are my thoughts. Red Death: +Flight is a huge plus. +Extremely powerful stream of fire, possibly enough to break a Bewilderbeast's armor. +The weakness exploited by Toothless/Hiccup cannot be exploited by a Bewilderbeast. -Has no element of surprise. Bewilderbeast +Ice can neutralize (and probably overpower) a Red Death's attack. +Attacking/Retreating from/into water is an advantage. Especially since this has a significant element of surprise. +Huge tusks for close combat Spoiler: click to toggle
-Slow on ground-No flight --------- So, yeah, I think it depends on temperament and conditions. |
