I never expected anything other than a PG rating, so I'm not surprised.

As far as the concerns that such a rating could be limiting, I'm really not too concerned about that. It's still entirely possible to tell a deep and engaging story best understood by more mature viewers within a PG rating. I don't see sex and profanity having much of place in the franchise to begin with, so the only aspect of the plot that might have to tread a fine line is the violence. That being the case, the possibility of slightly toning down a battle sequence or two in order to maintain a PG rating definitely makes the most sense for DreamWorks. They stand to make more money by being able to sell this as a family film even if it is way more than mindless entertainment for 5-year olds.
Come death. Come suffering. I will not live in fear. In this fleeting life where time escapes us, the path of least resistance is a slow quiet death. I'd rather burn out than fade away.

It's the movie industry they've been around for quite some time. Whether good or bad through that time they've learned to make money and good money at that. It's one of the reasons why you rarely see a movie truly flop and flop hard.

Er.... I don't agree with this at all.
Which part do you disagree with? Or if you disagree with all of it I'm curious as to why.

See you in the skies Dragon Rider!

I'm thrilled it won't be worse than that. A PG-13 rating would mean there'd be much more blood/gore, some scenes that directly suggest sexually content, near nudity, and/OR higher level swearing, or other things considered PG-13. I like mature jokes though lol
Anyway, I just like how this dramatic movie is not too overwhelming in content and just focuses on the awesome graphics and the good story line and the relationship of a boy and dragon that we all love! HtTYD doesn't need mega gore or word like "sh**" to be good.

i mean a lot can be done within a pg movie, did you see fantastic mr.fox? that was a great movie rated pg that i would say pandered more towards adults than children, its mostly based off the fact that its not going to be gory and astrid isnt going to be ripping off her clothes for hiccup mid movie, ratings are nothing to get upset about
