The odds that she will die or dissappear at the end of the movie are really high. :X

She is the typical passage-character between the first and the third movie of a trilogy. She won't be in the last movie.
Well, someone's a lot more optimistic than me (not that we didn't know that already, of course). I don't see any evidence that she's going to die in this movie. In all honesty, DeBlois seems to be far too enamoured with the character, and doesn't seem like the type to follow the adage of "kill your darlings". For that matter, given the obvious and acknowledged source of inspiration for HTTYD 2, if Valka is going to die within the films, then it seems much more likely to me that she will die in the third one.

Not that I'm going to argue much with a happy ending if we get one, I just don't think it's all that likely.
Number of times I've watched the trailer: 18.

My pet peeve: people who refer to complete strangers by their first name. The correct ways to refer to a "John Smith" whom you have never met are Smith, Mr Smith, or John Smith. Not "John". He's not your buddy.

I'm also of the idea she'll die as well. It feels like (to me at least) there is just to much buildup for her, to much "awwww" family emotions as well for something not to happen. I might be wrong on who it happens to or if it happens at all, but I just have a feeling that somethings going to happen just to much buildup for it.
See you in the skies Dragon Rider!

The Dragon Root:Thing what I wrote.

Is Toothless Evil? :Me possibly being crazy, but fun.

The BerkCast The HTTYD podcast, you should listen.

I actually really, really like Valka. <3 She was good in the second trailer and in the interview/clip video, but then the third trailer came out and I just love her so much now. c: I can't wait to see her in the movie.

So, if I say there were dragons, and men who rode upon their backs, who alive has been there and can tell me that I'm wrong? I like Valka from what I've seen so far too. But the only way I can see her dying is if she turns out to be a villain. I doubt thats going to happen though, so I really don't agree with the speculation that they're going to kill her off.

She could live, in the third movie she might just be a side character that doesn't show up much.
What should I write on my signature? Hmm...
I am a Httyd, Gravity Falls and Portal (One and two) fan.
I'm also a bookworm and an introvert.
That was pretty random, but that's me summed up in two sentences.

Well, they did say that something very dark and emotional was going to happen at the end of the film. :'(

At the moment I have no problem with Valka...she seems lovely, but I must admit I can't quite understand why she seemingly made no effort to let anyone know she was still alive? I can only assume she feared it would be too dangerous, or maybe she simply didn't want to?

As for ruining the whole first one to fly thing, this did bother me at first. But actually, I think it's fine. Valka learned to ride dragons away from Berk, and therefore away from all of the dragon-hating opinions. She likely saw that dragons were not harmful before she started riding them; since she was probably surrounded by many dragons it was likely easier for her to come to this conclusion.

Hiccup, on the other hand, was surrounded by the idea that dragons should be killed even as he was riding Toothless. Hiccup saved a dragon when he had absolutely no reason to (in the eyes of his tribe), and he was able to trust in them after connecting with Toothless alone.

Their situations were different, and I don't believe it has to be a 'dragon-training' skill that runs in their blood. I prefer to think of it as that they are both accepting, trusting people, who were both able to think differently about dragons. They did this separately from one another, and it really doesn't need to take anything away from Hiccup's amazing achievements!

Well the reason for not coming back could be the fact that she, unlike the vikings on Berk didn't have a map to know where Berk is.

Thinking of what we have seen in the trailers, the Dragon Nest seems to be pretty far away from Berk - how should she know whether to go north, south, east, or west? Let alone the very distance.

Hmm, that's fair enough actually! I suppose that, paired with the possible danger of being knocked down (because I suppose the assumption would be that any tribe would do so) stopped her from really searching.

For the first time I saw Valka, I thought "Wow what a creepy guy! I like that ..." Then the 'I'm your mother part' came and I thought "Oh crap! A new darth vadder. Just like me." ^_^
I like her very much and I think she's pretty cool. Hopefully she won't die.
