I don't think Valka. We just met her!

Plus, sadly, this is still a PG movie, it'll probably have no deaths. It's boring in that way.
True, but if Stoick is 50, how old would Valka be? 45? You realise that the average viking expectancy is 50 years right?

Plus, Valka is like the mother of dragons, she would somehow go into battle to help her dragons.

It's a possiblity, but a slim one.

And, it would be a little too much for PG... BUT WHY CAN'T IT BE PG13+?!
If you want popularity you need to appeal to as many people as possible. Besides, I think Dreamworks Animation is mostly just PG and G.

Alright guys seriously being rated PG does not mean you can't have a death scene in your movie. The only things it excludes you from are certain depictions of violence, language, and sexual content. After that a PG-13 rating only allows you some maneuverability with language and violence. So they can if they plan on doing so definitely have a death scene so long as they portray it properly. As a reminder Lion King had a death in it and it's rated PG/G.

On topic though my first pick would be Valka as I've said before tragic character is tragic and she just comes off/feels that way to me so far. Then would be Stoick for pretty much the same reasons as everyone else.
See you in the skies Dragon Rider!

The Dragon Root:Thing what I wrote.

Is Toothless Evil? :Me possibly being crazy, but fun.

yep PG just means if anyone dies, they won't die in a bloody or particularly violent way. And no cursing.

Stoick's death is a virtual necessity at some point in the series. We know that Hiccup becoming chief is one of the central themes of the trilogy, and that means that his father has to be out of the picture at some point. I know there's the mention on the official website that Stoick wants to retire or whatever, but I just don't think that would be as effective. Hiccup wouldn't be forced to really step up and figure out how to be a chief in his own right if Stoick was still there to fall back on.

I'll also second what Demonwolf said about the general vibe I get from Valka. I can't quite put my finger on it, but she just feels tragic to me. I wouldn't be surprised to see her die.

Any characters are extreme longshots in my opinion. Hiccup can't die because it's his story. Astrid should be fine because it seems like she's being positioned as the secondary hero of the story, and the main heroes almost never die in the kind of story this is aspiring to be. Then there's Fishlegs, Snotlout, and the twins who quite frankly aren't important enough to the story thus far for their death to have much significance.
Come death. Come suffering. I will not live in fear. In this fleeting life where time escapes us, the path of least resistance is a slow quiet death. I'd rather burn out than fade away.

Mte plus it would be kind of anticlimactic/boring if he did just step down to retire.

I agree with pretty much all of this. Stoick seems extremely likely to die, as it would set up for the third film with Hiccup being chief. There is good reasoning behind his death, whereas Valka, Eret, Drago etc just wouldn't really have enough justification for it. I don't think DreamWorks would kill someone off if it wasn't neccesary.

Although if he does go, it's going to break my heart having to see Hiccup deal with that.

Yea, Stoick would be my guess but I would also have a really hard time seeing Hiccup cope with it :( Not to mention Stoick is one of my favorites sooo...

Don't you think the chances are higher that Valka will die? I don't think she will will appear in the third movie.

Stoick is the candidate for the last sequel, because when he die Hiccup will be chief and that's the point where the whole franchise lead to.

[color=blue]I'm just here for Snotlout.

I'm suspecting Valka for this movie.

And Stoick or Snotlout for the next movie (I really want all three to die).

I have suspected Valka might die in this movie. Because I don't remember when or where, but I think I already heard that both Eret and Drago will be in the third, but there was no mention of Valka
