1. This did nothing to alleviate my fear that Valka is going to be too perfect for the movie's own good. If anything, it increased my concern in that area. A quick rundown of the producer comments about her in those couple of pages. She's a fierce warrior in her own right, capable of doing things with dragons that Hiccup never dreamed of, remarkable for being a woman who asserts herself in a male-dominated society, yet also extraordinarily compassionate and capable of making a deep connection with Hiccup as his mother despite being gone for 20 years. Um...... yeah.
I was going to resist the urge to say anything about Valka, if only because it would be a bit too specific for this topic, but I would just like to say that I completely agree with what you just said.

It's like everyone working on this film has somehow forgotten what makes a character work - flaws. Without flaws, you just have utterly annoying, unrelatable perfection, which is looking to be Valka in a nutshell. And then one of them has the nerve to call Valka one of the deepest female characters in the history of film, or some other such bovine excrement.

Urgh. It's going to be a long month or so.
Number of times I've watched the trailer: 18.

My pet peeve: people who refer to complete strangers by their first name. The correct ways to refer to a "John Smith" whom you have never met are Smith, Mr Smith, or John Smith. Not "John". He's not your buddy.

Hiccup's Girlfriend

I like the concept art of Astrid wearing armor that is similar to Hiccup's. I wouldn't have minded seeing that outfit used in the new movie, but the one they created for her that "made the cut" is nice too.

I didn't see a single spoiler of note in there. I demand a refund! I'll be expecting my $0.00 transferred into my bank account.

In all seriousness, I see three possible things going on here:

(a). I missed something that was scanned up.

(b). We have very different ideas of huge spoilers.

(c). I have some sort of psychic powers that allow me to see the future, subconsciously assume that everyone has the same ability, and have been mixing up what was already revealed loads of times already with information that is new to the mundane masses. Okay, that's at Valka Villain Probability, but hey, I'm just throwing ideas out there, as this notion of those scans containing "huge spoilers" is baffling me somewhat.

It is probably (b). What you define as a spoiler is subjective. In my opinion even this is a huge spoiler and I regret to have looked at it.

Hmm, I must have either missed that, or it must not have been in the scans that Lastandir kindly provided. If it's the former, would you be able to direct me to the source? I'm very interested I. This spoiler (and yeah, it would definitely be a big one if it's true), because it is a potential solution that I had not considered to a very big problem, depending on when it happens (the levels of vagueness I'll go to in order to avoid having to use spoiler tags).

That would presumably be from:
Spoiler: click to toggle
Either way, it's basically stuff we've known about for ages, first or maybe second-act material (so who cares), pales in comparison to other spoilers that have been given out in mainstream promotional material, and would mean absolutely nothing if you didn't know the scene it was from. In other words, I'm not entirely sure it qualifies as a spoiler at all, and it's certainly not a major one.

In the artbook they say that they invented a modular system for the dragons. Where they created different dragon part and put them together (alittle like the videogame). I feel like they are not putting very much effort into designing cool and unique dragons this time around. I must say I don`t think many of the new dragons have a very interesting design. Off course Cloudjumper, the bewilderbeast and so on are great, but the dragons in Valka`s sanctuary I`m not so sure off :-/

I agree with you here thats for sure. I mean I thought Valka would have had flaws (like being too dragon-like to trust people or even wary of Hiccup) but no. DreamWorks is going the wya of making her "perfection" whicjh pisses me off. People who have had no contact with people for ages like her should not be instatly accepting of another humna.

So excuse me DreamWorks while I question your new characters and dragons alike.

I'm also dreading the Valka storyline quite a bit. Realistically, I would expect Hiccup and Stoick to have a hard time accepting her back into their lives, not just her having a hard time being around people again. I mean, are they even going to point out the fact that she abandoned her family? Or is it all gonna be lovey family feels that shouldn't even exist so quickly after so many years apart? :-/ I want Stoick or Hiccup or SOMEONE to call her out on her less-than-noble choices.

I do think the crew have thought this through. They have had quite a long time to set up the story and Valkas charater. They are not showing us everything, and there is probably much more too the Valka character than we have seen yet. :) I do not think we will be dissapointed ;)
