I can absolutely NOT contain my emotions anymore! The way they act around each other is so goofy and fun that I wonder if there was even a time they disagreed. They act so calmly and carefree with one another. It just brings my eyes to tears. NOW THIS, PEOPLE, IS WHAT YOU CALL A RELATIONSHIP! NOT THE ONES FILLED WITH KISSING OR STIFF AFFECTIONS. THIS, MY FELLOW PEOPLE, IS WHAT YOU CALL LOVE! |

No it wasn't. MoCap is only used in the Layout Department to show the rough movements in a video instead of drawing every single frame. I hope I am right with that? And to be honest, MoCap is a joke against real key frame animation. The movenments don't look realistic, especially facial expressions. It is just an easy and cheap way for the studios to animate characters for live-action movies, because they don't have so much time for the special effects and CGI like for a complete computer animated movie. Motion Capture software I know of: Blender, Autodesk Motion Builder and NewTek Nevronmotion MoCap is actual pretty easy to set up. You don't even need all these light balls on your body. It is also possible to do it with a simple Kinect camera. |
UNAMUSED No, I'm serious....stop it.. | |

My mistake, i assumed it was. Y'no, with all those suits with those little balls on them which (i think) tracks each individual bone within a model. ![]() |

I thought they animate the faces separately from the bodies (because they have to match up the mouth movements with the voices first)?? In the real Obama clip the facial expressions were (mostly) all there already, the actors were just doing the body movements, which is MoCap, and then they refine it all later. Though I could be totally wrong because I don't know very much about animation at all! XD I thought the clip was great! I love the dialogue, the way they behave, the natural movements etc. Also I'm glad they don't seem to be releasing any clips with the actual music - it gives us something new to look forward to, even for the bits we've already seen. |

Yes, sort of. Layout is for deciding exactly where the camera is placed for a shot, how the elements within the shot are composed, and how the characters (and consequently the camera) will move throughout the shot before handing it off to the animator to be hand-keyed. I.e. its just for camera placement/composition. MoCap makes that process speedier and less costly. You are correct that none of the final animation is mocap though. |
