That is amazing! I will have to look out for this when I see the movie and would probably have never noticed this without forward notice! Thanks for posting this!
You're welcome! And there are SO many more. This is one technique they used to get so much content and meaning into the movie, and to express so much character development in as little time as they had.
Check out Hiccup's reaction to meeting Valka. Only one of the reactions is in the preview--the "microexpression" limbic reaction. (They actually increased the intensity of this one so that it's no longer a microexpression) Just after that one, in the movie, you get the full-on OMG expression, when the rest of his brain catches up with his limbic system.
Compare that to Jack Frost's "You can see me!?" where they first practiced that.
Ok, I'm off for a couple of days. Back with perhaps more, because finding these is really fun for me. Feel free to post your own finds.
I had missed that post actually , and I love this stuff. Once we've all seen the movie, maybe several times, I would love to analyse some moments like you did with Hiccup's reaction to his mother. It's true that after the first reaction, he pauses a sec, only to take the shock in his face. I couldn't explain why, I only know I loved the way they did it, and your post makes it all clear !
